From teakruthi

Pure Ceylon Black tea (FBOP) · Ginger root · Peach
Loose leaf · From Udu Pussallawa region · Good for Iced tea

Mild in flavour, the high and medium grown black tea perfectly supports the delicate flavour infusion of ginger and peach. Hand selected from the Sri Lankan wetlands on which it grows, the ginger in this tea boasts a subtle spiciness that harmonises with the flavour of the black tea. The sweet flavour of peach brings balance and peace to the spiciness of the black tea and ginger blend. Brewing to a deep copper in your cup, this tea is brimming with a tantalising blend of spicy, floral, and woody notes that are exclusively designed to exhilarate your taste buds while bringing peace to your mind.

Apparently they tweaked the recipe and it’s much less fiery than you guys noticed. I certainly received a pouch with peach (which isn’t that super fresh as on Izzy’s picture and some ginger, but much less of it than in pictures.

But in taste it isn’t a trouble! I notice both — a juicy peach with little fiery aftertaste of ginger. Bold and malty tea base. Well done! I can imagine being it blast for ice tea.

Again an example of well blended tea, because it delivers my favourite way of blending… there is the flavour expected, but as well the base tea. 4 minutes are a bit too much, I need to tweak it a bit. Not sure if I want to drink this tea in cold days (as today, it’s sunny, 11°C, spring-like) or prepare it cold-brewed and then drink it iced.

This one started off with a really enticing aroma. Sweet peaches, zippy ginger, and a slightly odd medicinal note that made one feel they’d be cured just by drinking this. Cured of what? I have no idea. But give this a whiff and you’ll see what I mean. I’m not big on the taste. I could see this being great for anyone with a sore throat but it’s not really a flavor I enjoy if I’m not sick.

another sample from variaTEA. I’ve been over peach for a bit now but will try anything. Funny thing is that this smells incredibly strong but brewed up very subdued. I didn’t get a lot of ginger – more like a slightly peach ceylon tea.

Thanks for the samples, Teakruthi! Sorry it took so long to get around to this one! I don’t find the peach here to be as delicious as in some peach black teas. I want more juicy peach, but this one is a little drying. The ginger is also fairly mild, really just a light burn in the back of the mouth. The black tea is light as well, with a tiny bit of maltiness. It definitely wasn’t bad, but I wish it had stronger flavors.

From the Samurai TTB.

I’ve seen a lot of reviews for teakruthi teas here on Steepster. This is the first one I’ve tried from this company, and I have to say that it’s the best tea I’ve had from the box so far. I love it! And if I hadn’t finished the bag to make this cup, I would have pulled it to keep in my own stash. It’s full-bodied, takes milk really well, and stays true to its flavors. I can taste both the sweet peach and the ginger, but the ginger doesn’t overwhelm. It’s not too spicy, it complements the peach. I can see this making a really good iced tea as well, but I’m loving it hot. I could go on and on about how delicious this is. tea-sipper, I think you might have forced my hand – it looks like I’ll be making a teakruthi order before too long. :)

Teakruthi’s teas are great – I doubt you will be disappointed. This one was too much ginger for me, so I’m glad I sent it along for it to be enjoyed better by someone else. :D

Shae

I saw some others say that about the ginger too. Maybe my cup didn’t have any ginger pieces or something? I don’t know, but it was GOOD.

Sipdown (292)

There is a lot more peach today than usual. I’m cool with that though. It’s a nice ginger peach balance that I’ve enjoyed each time I’ve had this tea. Hopefully Sil also enjoys it as I’m passing the rest of the sample on to her. Thank you teakruthi for the sample!

Thanks so much for the samples, Teakruthi!  I highly appreciate the actual peach pieces in this blend.  To a lesser extent, the ginger.  I’m just not much of a fan of ginger.  I wouldn’t mind a plain Ceylon with legions of peach added to the black tea.  The ginger takes over the flavor, leaving a bitterness, but also something savory that is reminding me of fennel or sage or some other spice I’m hardly familiar with.  Sadly the peach is hiding, though I made sure to get at least one noticeable piece of peach in the infuser.  Maybe someone steeping this one differently will have better luck with it.  I’d lose the ginger, personally.  But it has such a unique savory flavor, it’s like I’m sipping soup.  The second steep still doesn’t have much peach.  It might be TOO strong with 1 3/4 teaspoons.  It’s different!
Steep #1 // 1 3/4 teaspoons for a full mug // 17 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // 3 minutes after boiling  // 3 minute steep

The next day I wanted to try it again with a FLAT teaspoon to see if the bitterness would go away… not bitterness from the black tea at all but from all of this ginger.  The flavor was obviously less strong this time, still with that savory note, still not much peach — only wisps and hints of peach in the occasional sip.  It’s hard to taste the black tea underneath all this ginger, but it’s a good base for it.  I’d probably prefer this blend with 1 1/3-1 1/2 teaspoons.  It’s different but not something I’m eagerly wanting to stock up (too many other favorites from Teakruthi and again, ginger isn’t my favorite)… though I imagine down the line I will be remembering the unique flavor.
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug // 13 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled  // 3 minute steep

Not getting much peach, mostly ginger and a black tea that is a bit astringent. The ginger is nice, cozy, and warming on this cold night.

The first sampler from Teakruthi that I’ve tried and reviewed. It’s simple – black tea with dried ginger and peaches.

Dry, it smells of juicy sweet concentrated (but not artificial) peaches and honeyed ginger. The brown sugar and baked bread aromas make the honeyed ginger smell just like sticky dark ginger cake loaf.

Wet, the aroma is much more fiery and spicy from the ginger with a touch of earthiness and cinnamon. The ginger cake has morphed into sticky toffee pudding. I’m drooling just writing this tasting note although it’s been days since I actually drank this.

The flavour isn’t quite as good as the aroma – the ginger is very strong. I can handle it because it tastes closer to fresh ginger than dried ginger. It sticks in your throat. Once acclimatised to the ginger, I found the tea to be quite mellow and light-bodied with sweet and fruity notes.

The texture is thick and syrupy.

If I finish this sample before the end of Autumn I will definitely restock. I’m pulling out some of the dried ginger pieces when I brew it again so there’s a little less fire.
