My teenage daughter says, “I’m not an expert like you Mom, but this tea tastes really good.” That’s a few minutes after steeping with the water having cooled, and zero sweetener. Yep, it’s a tasty tea.

Out of the bag it smells very tropical and mango-y, with a slight hint of floral in there too. I’m okay with the floral in this case, as it’s faint and seems to only enhance instead of taking over.

Steeped, the mango is prominent, with whatever floral note falling way behind, and the black base solid in the middle. I prefer this lightly sweetened with Truvia, but that’s just because it’s more fruity.

Will I buy this again? It’s tasty. I have a credit with Teajo because of the exploding tea incident during shipping — and thank you for the credit, and for dealing with the issue so quickly! If I needed something else to round out my order? Yes, I’d order this again. I doubt I’d go out of my way though if this was the only thing I wanted.

This one is sooooo good iced!

MissB

Oh, that sounds like a lovely idea!

CelebriTEA

This sounds reminiscent of the Coconut Mango from Tea Forte
that I absolutely LOVE!

MissB

Hm. I don’t think there’s coconut in here… unless I missed it completely. More juicy mango than anything. I’ll put some aside for you to send off in another bag, CelebriTEA.

CelebriTEA

Hmmm….I guess I simply thought “tropical” would include coconut…lol…
I love the coconut mango… :-)

Sipdown! Thanks to Sil (and indirectly, Piccolo at Teajo Teas) for a sample of this tea. I opted to request a sample of the straight assam (which is brewed up and ready to review beside me), so it was great to be able to swap samples and try two teas instead of one!

The aroma of this tea was strangely rather floral, to me. I was expecting a stronger fruity/mango aroma, but it was more floral/fruity… and unfortunately I like my fruits to be juicy and verging on tart, not so floral. I was hoping that the flavour wouldn’t be the same, but it appears it is. I’m getting a floral, mangoey flavour (it does taste somewhat like mango, I’ll agree) paired with what I’ve have to say is a great black base, which is smooth and malty. I’m just not really a big fan of the flavouring, and that kind of ruins the tea for me :( I’d love to try the base paired with other fruits, so maybe sometime in the future when we inevitably make a Teajo order, I will get to try some of that!

ETA: I oversteeped (and therefore threw out) my re-infusion, but the leaves definitely had enough flavour for 1-2 more infusions. Just a bit too much on the floral side for me.

Wow, this tea is intense (in a good way!) Thanks so much to Piccolo and Teajo for the sample! I love the deep rich assam with the assertive mango flavor. I am enjoying it hot but I’m sure it will be wonderful iced, too. It is an interesting contrast to the peach oolong I had earlier today, too, heh.

I finished the rest of this off tonight as a cold brew. The juicy mango flavour really shines when it’s iced.

I think iced tea is my new temporary favourite thing.

Also, I hope everyone had an awesome St. Patrick’s Day!

This is my second review on Tropical Mango. I made up 24 oz of this to take to work, drinking it warm to start with and then as it cooled off, I added some ice to enjoy it cold. As with all teas, I think a little sweetener really brings out the fruit, but it is also fine straight both as a hot and a cold tea. I decided that this is worth ordering again-it seems to have a good tea base and the flavor of the black is not overwhelmed by the mango-it is well blended. Teajo has sample sizes for sale, so I look forward to trying more of their teas. I like it that their teas are organically grown and they use all natural flavors.

what you discovered about the Tropical Mango is pretty much the same for the rest of our flavored blacks. Assam tea leaves are much more resistant to flavor, so they don’t get overpowered by it. Some people prefer the lighter bodied black teas, but if you like this one (Tropical Mango), you will certainly enjoy the rest!

Donna A

Yes. For flavored teas, I think the Assam works well. For unflavored black tea, I like some of the lighter bodied black teas.

Thank you to Teajo teas for this sample!

This one hurts my nose. There’s a floral and cinnamoney, spicey scent going on. I can’t entirely say with any accuracy that i’m smelling mango. In sipping this, i don’t taste mango whatsoever. I suspect that this might be a better cold brew than hot, but hot is how i tried it. I do really like the tea base for this one. But in terms of the flavouring, it’s just not what i was hoping for.

Stephanie

Weird! I loved mine :)

I know I’ve had actual mango before, but I can’t remember what it tastes like. I think I might have to see about getting one soon, I wonder if anywhere around here has some?
This is a very generous sample from Teajo Teas, thanks! I’ve been craving fruity teas lately, maybe because the weather here is warming up and I have dreams of fruity iced teas dancing around in my head. As soon as you open the bag, a delicious, sweet, fruity mango flavor comes out. I felt like this would be a good idea for a cold brew, so last night I popped it in the fridge and let it sit overnight so I could take it to classes this morning. Is caffeine affected by cold brewing, I wonder? Either way, this tastes great! I’ll have to try it hot, but I can see myself definitely reordering this in the summer months for iced tea all the time. The tea and the mango are both present. At the front is the mango, with the base tea backing it up. It’s sweet enough on its own that it doesn’t need any sweeteners, but I can see this being really good with some sugar added, probably like some kind of mango juice.

This was a sample thanks to Teajo Teas. I look forward to being able to buy some tea from them soon:)

Smell wise: I had gotten this on Monday…I think? But hadn’t been able to test it til now. And of course I could not resist opening it and sniffing it. It smells quite good, just like Mangos though I can see why people would smell Peach, too. However, there is an odd underlying smell of chemicalness that puts me off. Kind of reminded me of how oranges can get when they are getting old.

Taste Wise: It’s an interesting tea, not boring. Though I cannot say that I am especially inspired by this tea. But…I am impressed to the extent that I think I will come across teas that I do like even love from this company, most likely in the ‘Around the World’ sampler that I intend on buying in the next few months.
