Preparation: One heaping teaspoon per 8oz cup of filtered, boiling water. Allow to brew 2 minutes.

With my Harney and Son’s Vanilla tin empty and an order from TeaGschwendner brewing, I decided to give their Vanilla a try. I am a bit disappointed. The vanilla taste is a little hollow and slightly artificial. Perhaps if I adjust the brewing time or temp it’ll improve.

I received a sample of this one with my order a while ago. I must always try the vanilla teas! I thought there might be actual vanilla pieces in this blend, but it looks like the leaves are only flavored with vanilla. The black tea base looks and tastes like Ceylon, which isn’t my favorite. The vanilla flavor is good enough, but you can’t go wrong with actual vanilla pieces. The description SAYS there are vanilla pieces in the blend, and if there isn’t (or they aren’t noticeable enough to me ), then it will only disappoint tea drinkers who are looking for vanilla pieces in this blend. The description just sets up the disappointment! It’s a decent cup since I love vanilla anyway.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep

I disagree with the (only) other review on this tea. I think it’s really good, and not artificial tasting at all. I have had two cups today and actually liked the resteep better than the first cup. First cup I went with their recommended 2 minute steep, and it was fine. But it seems to have a deeper flavor with the 3 minute resteep.

It’s not trying to be something it isn’t. It’s just a nice black tea with a well balanced vanilla flavor. No clowns or balloons. I won’t have any issues drinking the 50g I bought.

Stephanie

No clowns, eh? That’s good to hear :)

LOL! But I always want the balloons! Clowns are just plain scary!
