This tea, we have called “The Potion” because (like a potion) it’s the most magical elixir we found this season, and one of the most memorable jade oolongs Taiwan Sourcing has ever carried. It has the sweetest aroma we have ever encountered, and also one of the softest body (Not weak though) we have ever tasted. It is so tasty that it earned the name “Potion” for its magically addictive character. We do not recommend this tea, we implore you to take action now so you don’t miss your opportunity to experience a very magical tea!

This is a good one! I’ve had it before and was impressed by its complexity, so I thought it would be the perfect sendoff before my weekend away with no gongfu equipment. I used around 5 grams in a 120 ml teapot, with steeps of 30, 20, 25, 30, 45, and 60 seconds, followed by steeps of 1:30, 3, 5, and 10 minutes.

Many oolongs have a faint first steep, but not this one. I get aromas and tastes of citrus and dried fruit, florals (Lilacs? Gardenias? I’m bad at picking out floral notes.), butter, menthol, spinach, and lots of other things I can’t put a name to. This tea is remarkably smooth and has an aftertaste that lasts several minutes. By the third steep, I’m just sitting and savouring that aftertaste. Caramel notes also seem to be emerging, and the dried fruit and citrus are getting stronger.

The fourth steep starts to move into more vegetal territory, though all the other flavours are still distinct. This tea also keeps getting sweeter, though the nuances are beginning to fade by steep six and the gorgeous aftertaste is gone. Even after ten steeps, it’s worth drinking.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tea, and while the price is a bit high, it’s a wonderful occasional treat.

This oolong is all around accessible, complex, and has an incredible energy. This tea smelled and tasted like buttered popcorn, and left a soothing aftertaste. I think that the price tag is sort of on the higher side, but this tea is made with exceptional quality so I think its worth it.

The Certified Organic “Winter Rhythm” Oolong Tea – Winter 2015 is a decent exception-its $23 for 150 grams. I’ve wanted to try it myself, but haven’t because I do not know for sure if it would become my go to tea. My current struggle has been finding a good regular green oolong. I’ve narrowed it down to the kinds of Oolongs I like, but the pool is still too large.

Top notch Jade, oozing like buttah on the tongue but not too thick. Highly aromatic, good staying power. Quite the nice specimen.
