From T2

The spice is always right with this festive fruitcake cuppa. There’s a base of rooibos to start, then we’ve added in a merry mix of cinnamon, sultanas and rhubarb to warm up those cockles and bring out the festive spirit!

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – December Theme: Holiday Teason Tea #25

From AJRimmer a while ago — thank you!  Must have been waiting to try this during the holidays!  Oh how I would love a tea that tasted like a thick piece of fruitcake… not this one though.  Sadly, somehow this tastes mostly like licorice and rooibos.   Looking at the ingredients, there is anise here.   The fruits: apple, figs, orange, golden raisins, red currant, and rhubarb (the blend looks mostly rooibos.)  This seems like an odd mix of fruits for a fruitcake… I’m not really tasting them anyway.  The chicory and anise are taking over.  The second steep was much the same: too much anise.  That’s a shame.
Steep #1 //  1 1/2 teaspoons // 20 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 15 minute steep

I ended up with a huge tin of this from a previous sale, and I’ve been working my way through it much too slowly. The flavor is pretty strange. I really can’t tell what it is. I often think about this tea as if I dislike it, but when I’m actually drinking it, it’s all right. It’s very mildly spiced and really just has this one predominant flavor that’s sort of…bready? It’s difficult to articulate, but the flavor is unique and interesting, if not my favorite thing in the world.

T2 Advent Day 2
I don’t recall what fruitcake tastes like, so I don’t have anything to compare this to. It has a pastry type scent to it. Maybe a hint of cinnamon and almond? Taste wise, this is fairly bland. I get some baked orange and other fruits. The flavor is very light and hard to pick out. It’s okay if I’m not expecting much. :/

I’ve had this several times but apparently haven’t been inspired to write a note for it yet. It’s really not that great.
