Ya Bao is a white tea carefully hand plucked from old tea trees, this tea is picked during the winter season and the early spring. Ya Bao’s growth process starts on the tree, as a well-protected bud with a hard case to defend against cold and animals. Once the weather warms it sprouts into new branches and leaves. Ya Bao is translated as “bud treasure” it is considered a treasure because of the care and respect that goes into the tea picking in order to ensure that the tree will continue to flourish. Once the buds are collected they are dried in the sun with no further processing.
