From Stash Tea

We’ve created a decaffeinated version of our popular Premium Green Tea that has the mildly vegetal, nutty, and almost grassy flavor of the original but with less than 2 mg of caffeine per cup. Decaf Premium Green is naturally decaffeinated using an advanced CO2 method, which takes out almost all the caffeine but leaves the flavor. Decaf Premium Green brews a beautiful golden-green cup with a distinctive light flavor and no astringency.

Ingredients
Naturally decaffeinated green tea

Steeping Instructions
1-3 minutes at 170-190 degrees Fahrenheit

Caffeinated
The decaffeination process does not remove all caffeine. Decaf teas contain 4 mg or less of caffeine per cup.

I had a hankering for some green tea, but alas it is after 8pm so I thought I’d give this one a try. The smell was very nice when I opened it’s little foil sachet. After it was steeped I added a little bit of agave and skim milk.
The first sip taste like nothing, like warm milk. But the second sip got a little bolder with a quite pleasant after taste. I was pleasantly surprised by this decaf.

I was looking for a decaf green tea, but wasn’t real hopeful, since most decafs I’ve tried have been pretty weak and somewhat flavorless. This one was a pleasant surprise. It’s like a decaffeinated gunpowder green, and there’s some real oomph in the flavor. Recommended!

Backlog from earlier in the week:

Mastress Alita’s Monthly Sipdown Challenge
March 2022 → A green tea

I’m not a fan of green teas in general, but this one had barely any flavor at all. Maybe because it’s a bagged tea, maybe because it’s decaf. Or maybe it’s just me not liking green teas. I only had a few sips, didn’t even attempt to finish it.

Part of my Stash Assortment. Green tea is too bitter.

This was fairly good, and different from most green teas I’ve had.

I would consider this decaf green very different from Stash’s Premium Green(caffeinated). It has a very astringent taste under the tongue. By astringent, I mean it has a very lemony effect under the tongue. It is great in the evening when you want a green tea, but do not want the caffeine. Just do not expect it to be like the regular Premium Green.
