Due to overexposure as a kid on the farm, I have a long-standing aversion to raw cucumbers and canteloupe, simply because they stunk up everything else in the fridge. But thanks to a kind donor (I’m sorry, I don’t know which of you lovely folks shared this), I can at least slightly revise my melon aversion. I fridge-steeped this overnight. The green tea was a nice counterpoint to the authentic melon flavor. Cool and pleasant.

Sipdown! (31 | 247)

A melon green tea? Sign me up! :P

This is a very pleasant bagged tea. The honeydew tastes like it’s on the underripe side to me, so it has more of a refreshing cucumber-esque note to it, rather than a syrupy and juicy ripe melon like Lupicia’s. The green base is mellow and grassy, which goes well with the lighter, more crisp melon flavor.

Not one I would order, just because I always have Lupicia’s Melon Oolong in my cupboard and I think one melon tea is enough. But if I wanted a convenient bagged version, I would consider picking this up. I bet it would be lovely for cold brew too, and much more cost-effective.

I love melon flavored teas, so had to add this to my Stash order. Lupicia’s melon flavor is the ultimate for me, so I find myself comparing all others to it. This doesn’t quite measure up. It lacks the juiciness that I find so pleasant in Lupicia’s, and errs more on the cucumber side of the spectrum.

For my birthday I decided to indulge in two things I love: tea and videogames. Subscribed to WoW and FFXIV for two more months each, and put in a pre-order for KH3. I would have liked to add Code Vein to that list, but sadly it’s been delayed to who-knows-when. Thanks, Namco Bandai. Anyway.

Unlike the white chocolate mocha which was mediocre at best, this is really good. I followed the package’s directions and steeped it for 3 minutes at 175 degrees. It tastes just like honeydew. There’s supposedly guava flavoring in it too, but I’m not picking up on it. All honeydew, all the time. The green base isn’t overly bitter or grassy, and just sort of fades into the background. I could probably drink this every day.

I’m really not of a mind to make iced tea right now, but I imagine this would make for a really nice iced tea come the spring and summer.

I love this one so much. I have a big box of it on my Amazon wishlist, haha.

Kingdom Hearts 3. sigh. I have been waiting for this game forever but I will sadly never catch up on game systems. I also sadly haven’t been playing video games as much lately. I hope KH3 is awesome for you though! Happy birthday!

Orphia

Thanks! From the trailers it looks like it’s going to be good. A little disappointed that we didn’t get a Gargoyles level, but that’s always been wishful thinking on my part.

I remember a trailer from YEARS ago where Sora is riding a wave of heartless, and that sold me!

Orphia

I remember that one! I don’t know if anything like that’ll be in the finished game, but I hope so.

What I’d really like is a bonus boss other than Sephiroth. It was fun the first couple of times, but I’d like to fight another classic baddie. Kefka, for example. FF6 was always my favorite installment in the series.

I got this from Lexie Aleah! Thanks again!

I have a thing for honeydew melon. Real melon, melon candy, melon boba, you name it. But I haven’t really explored it in tea form until now. (Which is definitely something I’m going to have to correct.) So, I when I opened the packet, I was delighted. It smelled like straight up Bath & Body Works in there.

The tea came out to a bright yellow with the slightest green tint. It smells a bit more like guava than melon, but the melon flavor is very prominent. It’s what I had hoped it would be. Fruity and a little exotic, with a mild green tea base. Not a fall tea in any way, but after all those spiced and heavy black teas, this is very refreshing. The taste really does remind me of Bath & Body Works’s Cucumber Melon, though. I’m having flashbacks to my very early teens at the taste of this. Going to have to get more…

Got this box for $2.50 on sale and couldn’t resist as It’s a new flavor as far as I know. I’m not a fan of the texture of honeydew but love it as a bubble tea flavor. Stash is a local tea company where I live but it’s also really well known across the US.

I tend to add some sweetener to fruity green teas for some reason. Even though I don’t add any to plain. So I added a lil bit of agave. It definitely helped bring out the melon notes. I made this hot but I bet it would be excellent iced as well. I don’t taste any of the Guava that is mentioned but my only reference for Guava is juice. The flavor here has a slight floral quality to it as well.

I would definitely recommend Golden Honeydew (green rooibos) and Melon Oolong from Lupicia if you’re a honeydew fan! ❤

Lexie Aleah

Thanks! I think I have those two on my wishlist. (:

Tabby

Ooh, I want to try this…

Lexie Aleah

If you’d like I’d be happy to send you a couple bags of it.

Tabby

Oh, sure! Is there anything in my cupboard you’d like to try in return?

Lexie Aleah

Sure! I’m open to anything without lemongrass in it and that’s not too hibiscus heavy. (:

Cold-steeped this one for a few days in my glass teapot. It’s divine. Tastes exactly like perfectly ripe honeydew melon. Blended well. I get buttery and floral notes in the aftertaste as well. The sweetness of the melon and guava flavors are counterbalanced nicely with a pleasantly sour/ slightly bitter edge from the tea.
Thick, buttery, juicy mouthfeel, akin to the texture of melon.
Not sure which type of Japanese green tea they used for the base— I don’t think it’s sencha— but whatever it is, it makes for a delicious, delicate cuppa.
This company always manages to make very complex and delicious bagged blends.
Well done, Stash!
