“Tea of the afternoon….. And I am making a guess on this one. We do have a local shop in the fancy shopping area that specializes in Hot Sauce. They also carry bulk spices and a few teas. I have...” Read full tasting note
“My first Assam . . . I am pleased to report that this one has lived up to all the hype surrounding teas from this region. Reminiscent of a good chocolate stout, it begins with a honeyed nose that...” Read full tasting note
“Assams don’t appeal to me all that much, but even I can taste that this one is above average. It has that typical Assam malt with touches of fruit and citrus. It’s slightly bitter, but then I...” Read full tasting note

Description

The Mangalam Estate has over the past 5 years turned into a reliable source of top-grade Assams. This tea is no exception. The young small leaves have a high concentration of golden tips. The cup color is sparkling copper-red, the flavor complex with good body and malty-fruity flavor and faint spice notes. A top Assam with the rare, lingering aftertaste reminiscent of a full-bodied, dry red wine.

Recommendations: Use 1 heaping tsp. per 6 oz. cup; heat fresh water to a roaring boil; steep for 3-4 min.
