sipdown! (129) Yeah, that’s right dinosara! we can pretend i’ll catch up to you haha. I saved the last little bit of this so that i could try it as a latte. I likely have had too much caffeine tonight but i’m having fun and testing, as usual, has been extended so my day has pretty much been: sit around, drink tea, package tea up for friends, watch tv, test.

i’ve got some errands tomorrow and i want to bake, so i imagine i’ll be drinking less tomorrow. This is quite nice as a latte, but still nothing to write home about. It’s like it can’t decide if it wants to me chocolatey or almond-y and can’t find the middle ground haha. However milk>water for this one imo :)

Dinosara

Haha I am still at 99 despite getting one of my Black Friday orders. We’ll probably go back up at similar times once packages start rolling in!

Sil

yeah i’ve received one of my BF orders with 6 left to come in as well as two swaps.. so i’m probably up that creek with no paddle…but i’m still going to TRY to end the year at 150

So much yum in my cup. Oh so much.
I steeped for 2.5 min this time and did add milk. But only the chocolate notes came through with maybe a hint, if I “squint real hard” of marzipan.
Bah, I don’t care. It was exactly what I needed.

On a separate note, has anyone been watching Scandal? I’m partway through season 2 and obsessed with it. Would love to see some fellow fans! :)

CHAroma

I need a new show, so I think I’ll start that one. Thanks for the recommendation!

Indigobloom

Have you seen Homeland? While I love Scandal, I think I adore Homeland even more!!

CHAroma

No, I’ve never even heard of Homeland. Is it on Netflix Watch Instantly? I’ve finally caught up on White Collar and Revenge, so now I have to wait for new episodes to come out. I’ve been spoiled with Netflix.

Indigobloom

Hmmm you know I’m not sure! I haven’t got netflix, and they seem to have different packages for those in Canada

Thanks to Sil for this sample. Almond is one of my favorite flavors so I always take the opportunity to try and almond tea, although I have only found a few that meet my fairly high standards.

This one is pretty good. I would say it’s more truffle (chocolate) than almond, but there is still a distinct nutty almond flavor to it. Particularly in the aftertaste, I get the sensation that I just ate an almond truffle. The chocolate is a dark chocolate flavor and is nicely done so that it is almost natural-tasting, at least in the initial sip. This reminds me a bit of my beloved Chocolate Almond Allure, but without the caramel notes. Pretty tasty overall.

Sipdown! Thanks again, Sil. :)

Still got mostly smooth dark chocolate this time, which is indeed lovely, but I was expecting a heap of almonds.

Sipdown!
This is the last of this sample from SIL, & probably my favorite of the sloane samples she sent. It’s dark chocolate liquor with some almond essence. I added stevia. My only wish would be a thicker or creamier mouth feel, if that makes sense to anyone, as it feels ‘thin’.
Not really a problem though, it’s tasty.
Thanks Sil :)

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I have a problem with most chocolate teas feeling thin- I always want hot chocolate after I have them! :-)

This tea makes me happy. Thanks Sil for sharing this one with me.

It’s not my beloved Florance, but this is a really nice chocolate tea. I’m not sure I’m getting much almond, but some nutty in the background and nice deep chocolate. MMMMMmmmmm this is what the doctor ordered tonight. :))

MissB

Your beloved Florence should be there on the 6th! ;)

Sil

there are others i like more, but this wasn’t terrible lol and i bought it during their 50% off so it was totally reasonably priced unlike usual lol

Dexter

I need to organize my teas in anticipation of that box on the 6th. That will be my project for the weekend.
I think that my impressions of a tea has as much to do about timing as it does with palate. I think I like/rate teas higher if I’m in the mood for them. The trick is to find the right tea for how you are feeling at that time. This one worked for me last night. :))

Sipdown #30

The dry leaf aroma is chocolate. The brewed tea aroma is chocolate. The taste? Chocolate. What a surprise. ;)

The black tea base is a little bitter. I added Truvia and skim milk, but it’s still fairly bitter. If you like dark chocolate, I think you’d probably really enjoy this tea. I’ve always been more of a milk chocolate kind of gal myself. Although the older I get, the more dark chocolate grows on me.

I’m really getting nothing in the way of almond here though. I LOVE almond, but I can’t detect any of that lovely flavor in this cup. As a chocolate tea, it’s pretty good. As an almond truffle tea, I think it leaves something to be desired. Nonetheless, I always enjoy trying something new! So thank you to Sil for providing this sample!

one more off the list haha

Fjellrev

Perfect timing for this review! I was contemplating making an order and had this on my list too. Methinks we may be dealing with mega price inflation and it’s not worth it.

Sil

incendiare – i can send some your way to try if you like just poke me

Fjellrev

Haha oh Sil, you’re always generously offering to pass stuff down to me. Thanks. :) Someday I’ll get off my butt and find the time to swap with people!

Sil

just send me your address and a list of 3-4 things you wanna try. seriously.

CHAroma

Other people have found almond flavor in this one, so it might just be me. It’s hard to find a better almond tea than Butiki’s Almond Indulgence. If I’m hankering for almond, that’s the tea I turn to.

And Sil is very generous. :)

Sil

CHAroma – haha and see stacy’s almond tea is the one almond tea i can’t handle…reminds me too much of what drinking almond extract would taste like :)

CHAroma

Wow, really? That’s so funny. It’s my favorite almond tea and one of my favorite teas period. I’ve always found it interesting that people can eat or drink the same thing and interpret the taste so differently.

Shmiracles

well, I just added Almond Indulgence to MY shopping list hah.
thanks ladies!

This is a sample I received from Sil.

This tea tastes like Nutella, but without all of the sweetness. I can taste the chocolate/cocoa and some nutty flavours. I would not necessarily say it was almond, although at one point while the tea was really hot, I thought of almond butter. But as the tea cooled to a more drinkable temp, it really reminded me of hazelnuts. As the tea cooled it became a little bitter, like dark chocolate. The black tea base is strong and thick, robust.

Thanks Sil.

YUM! I had this last night, and I could pick up light nutty chocolate tones, though they really didn’t come out as much til I added a little sugar; milk was successful with this too, as it brought out more creamy chocolate.

I really like this one. It’s a winner.

Thanks to sil for this lovely sample.

Easy come, easy go. Sipdown from Sil!

This reminds me of something else I recently had but am too lazy to look up on my phone. It’s nice, but not my favorite. I think I’d rather eat almonds, than drink them.

Sil

it’s a nice smooth blend but i wish it was just chocolate lol
