From Silk Road Teas

A traditional blend, soothing and mellow, made of a vivid-green Bancha leaf, roasted brown rice hulls and bits of popcorn and produced in Japan. Our Genmaicha has a nice crisp, uplifting savory taste. Infusion is cloudy yellow-green and is excellent served hot or cold. It is refreshing at most any time of day and goes very well with light foods.

I was all afraid this tea wouldn’t be as flavorful today; I discovered waaay too late that the seal on the bag it was in wasn’t sealing properly. :( So then I put it in a container and this is the first time I’ve had it since. Thankfully, it’s still good! It may have lost a teeny weeny bit of its butteriness but I still like it. Phew! Lesson learned to double check seals!

This is admittedly my first experience with Gen Mai Cha, but it’s delicious. The brewed smell is nutty and reminds me of a bowl of rice krispies cereal, and the taste is a delightful blend of green tea and nutty flavors. I’ll definitely be buying more when I run low.
