Hatsumukashi is a refreshingly bright usucha tea with a pleasant tart flavor. It represents the entry level of quality matcha teas, purposefully lower in terms of full-bodied, characteristic sweet flavors. This makes a great milder tea benefitting from lower temperature water, yet take care not to go below 75 degrees Celsius, as there this tea can tend towards bitterness.
