Black Tea “Chai”

supplied in re-sealable “stay fresh” stand up pouches

“Chai” or spiced tea also known as “Masala Chai” is a perfect blend of aromatic spices like pepper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and ginger, added to a very good quality black Assam tea. It has beautiful, very aromatic, rich, spicy and complex taste with a dark reddish-brown colour of liquor.

Chosen by Indians for many hundreds years as a delicious beverage, “Masala Chai” also has some healthy properties and used as a warming, soothing drink which mainly acts as a natural digestive. Some of the “Masala Chai” spice mixes still in current use in Ayurvedic medicine.

Brewing method: brew 1 teaspoon of “Chai” per tea cup in freshly boiled water at 100C/203F. Infuse for 3-4 min. Drink with an addition of whole or semi-skimmed milk and plenty of sugar.

If you want to treat your taste buds and sense a real taste of this unique beverage, then this tea has to be boiled or simmered in milk with plenty of sugar or honey to release all the spices’ flavour.

“Masala Chai” is an Afternoon tea, served in the tea rooms of India’s smart hotels and all over the world with savoury and sweet snacks in the afternoon or evening.
