From RiverTea

Take your tastebuds on a jungle cruise with this exotic fusion of green tea, pineapple and ginger. Sencha, a very popular Japanese green tea is mixed up with delicious pineapple bits that add a lustful sweet flavor to this blend, while just the right touch of sharp ginger gives it a surprising finish. Sugary traces of liquorice can also be found in this blend, adding its own unique flavor that will definitely surprise you. Your favorite green tea embellished with a variety of sweet and spicy flavors is enough to take you on a journey to the heart of the jungle.

The scent of the dry leaf for this tea is the juiciest pineapple you could ever imagine. Like you just cut in to a fresh pineapple and can’t wait to eat it. Lordy, the scent alone is amazing.

Brewed, the scent carries over, which is killing me. I don’t drink my teas super hot, I usually wait until they’re on the edge of lukewarm, but I might risk burning my mouth on this one.

Oddly enough, I wasn’t that interested in this tea, it’s one my wife picked out to sample. Ginger and lemon usually aren’t my bag, nor are greens, but I’ll be damned if this one isn’t calling my name. If the taste lives up to the scent, this would make a gorgeous sangria in the summer.

Okay! Okay, so this is good. Not as juicy as the scent, but that would be just about impossible. It’s still juicy as hell, but the ginger and lemongrass round out the sip a little. The pineapple is definitely present, but it’s playing well with the others in this jungle. This is definitely a hit for me and I think my wife will like it even more than I do.

Thanks again for the teas, Beorhthraefn! I feel terrible I’m not trying them soon enough. They are right at the top of my e-mail draft of teas to try though! Here is another one to mourn River Tea’s disappearance. It’s delicious. I wouldn’t think a green tea with ginger could be this great, but there is so much LEMON. It’s like a sweet lemonade or lemon sugar dusted donut. Or everything that is lemony delicious at once. The ginger was luckily only at the top of the cup (not a ginger fan), but this is so lemony I can’t even taste the green tea. The second steep was lemony as well. I’m actually surprised by the list of ingredients, as the lemon was so strong, it overpowered any black pepper, licorice or pineapple that was in the blend. EVERYTHING I’ve tried from River Tea has been so great but sadly that has only been a handful of blends.
Steep #1 // 1 3/4 tsps. // 28 minutes after boiling // 2 1/2 min steep

Had a nice big hot cup of this for breakfast. I got a lot of pineapple from the dry leaf but when it brewed up it was a nice big cup of ginger and licorice. Much closer to a chai or the flavours I associated with Tibetan herbal blends or ayurvedics. There’s still a bit of juicy sweetness from the pineapple, but it’s got that spicy burn at the back of it.

It’s the kind of tea that makes me want to keep drinking it, because I feel like every cup is going to be a little different.
