From Red Leaf Tea

A lovely and warming golden-red brew, Golden Nepal tea is harvested in several flushes high in the moist and chilly climate of the Antu Valley, located near the Darjeeling plantations. This brew is very sweet and scented with several flowery flavors, including hints of honeysuckle and jasmine. Connoissuers insist that you should drink it straight, without adding milk, cream or lemon but then feel free to experiment with this exceptional loose leaf black tea for your own tastes!

This is lovely! What an interesting tea. It has many similarities to Darjeeling, but, it is different enough to be its own unique tea. It has some amazing floral notes in there, and as the description suggests, I can taste honeysuckle and jasmine, which are particularly noticeable at the start, but then they taper somewhat by mid-cup, becoming part of a medley of floral tones that is absolutely delightful. There is even a hint of muscatel to this, as well as some wood tones and a pleasant earthiness.

Overall, a very surprising tea, quite lovely!

I like the woodsy muscatel taste in tea. Reminds me of the sweet smell of walking through the redwoods. Wierd but I spent time living in the mountains. Lupicia has muscat wine flavored tea. I began enjoying this flavor when wine tasting. There was a winery in Murphys CA called Stevenot that makes a great Orange Muscat that’s fantastic if you ever run into it!

Ahhhhh! This is NICE…smooth…sweet-floral flavors! A non-astringent darjeeling that is very pleasant and comforting.

I can taste the honeysuckle likeness and something that resembles subtle hints of lemon.

This is FAB!

Honeysuckle?! Yum – that’s a sure sign of spring too!

I like the mixed colors of the brewed leaves. Reminds me of autumn. Which is appropriate since this is compared to an Autumn Darjeeling, my favorite Darjeeling season. There seems to be a high percentage of sticks to leaves in the bag I have, though this is my first bag so it may vary with subsequent batches. I noticed no floral notes, though I suppose there could be an argument made in favor of a “sweet” characteristic in comparison to other blacks and Darjeelings. Very nice reddish golden brown color liquid with a thin mouth feel. Very low astringency. I would definitely keep this in my pantry.
