From Puerh Shop

The cake is made by using Bada materials from Menghai area.

The cake has been classified as one of our ‘10 year anniversary’ series products – only the best fits the bill. It’s on par with the best you know in Pu-erh tea, we are confident about it.

Yunhe Tea Factory won both Gold and Silver awards recently in Guangzhou Tea Expo, it was known to make some very clean good quality products as we all hate some foreign objects got into our teas, thus we selected Yunhe Tea Factory as our new manufacturing partner in Menghai.

As you could figure out from the picture, the cake was tightly compressed, it was made by mixing multiple grade tea leaves to preserve its richness. We believe it would turn into something wonderful in just a few years.

This cake is very tightly compressed and would be a good one to age. The flavor is a “subtle” richness that is very rich and enjoyable. Rich dark infusions with no noticeable wou dei taste. A wonderful cup of tea. I will be getting another to age as I think this cake will be drunk quickly! This is my first taste of a Bada mountain tea and it gets a ‘thumbs up’. Very nice.

mrmopar

Hi lukep, “wou dei” is the barnyard aroma and licorice taste in a lot of recent fermented shou. Big factories like Dayi will “hold” young shou till this aroma/taste subsides. Usually about 6 months to a year. You can still buy young shou but I always let it sit for a year till I try it.

mrmopar

Oh no Lukep, it is ready now with nothing off about the cake I got.

mrmopar

I haven’t gotten to the middle yet but I would think it would be the same as the outside.

Blind bought a cake of this shou because it was cheap and reviewed favorably by mrmopar. This tea has the darkest flavors of any I’ve tried for sure. Nothing fruity, nutty, or sweet. Just pure, dark, relatively intense richness.

Mouthfeel is thick and nice. No bitterness and trace astringency. 12+ infusions. No noticeable aftertaste.

A blind purchase well done! Glad I followed mrmopar’s opinion on this one :).

Also, if anyone would like to try any of the teas I’ve got, I’d be glad to swap some samples – just DM me!

A good example of a puerhshop ripe everyday drinker. I find that it has no distinguishing features, but has a fine flavor, a bit acidic, deep and earthy, and a pretty good caffeine kick. A solid performer for the price, though nothing special.
