Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge Monday, July 5th: National Apple Turnover Day Tea #1

Thanks AJRimmer!  A good choice for Apple day.  Interesting ingredients here.  The sample I received looks mostly like apple cubes and black tea.  The resulting brew hardly looks like black tea, which I guess I expect from PudTea by now.  The flavor is much more toffee than apple.  Sweetness, mostly.  I like it, but I am wishing more of these ingredients would be present in the flavor.  Dates! I can’t believe chicory is in the blend.  Tastes mostly like the sugary cubes.   I don’t mind this blend but I wish for MORE all around in this flavor.
Steep #1 // 1 heaping teaspoon for full mug // 20 minutes after boiling // 2 1/2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 min

The majority of the leaf here was apple with just a little bit of black tea. The main flavor is apple. There may be a hint of toffee, or something a tiny bit desserty at least. The flavor is similar to bagged grocery store brands. I’d believe it if it were called an herbal apple tea. It doesn’t taste bad, but it tastes really boring and not at all special.

When VariaTEA placed her order with Pud this was the only tea not available in a sample size, so she asked if I could send her some of my sample (which I am more than happy to do) and because of that, I wanted to prioritize tasting this one…

Unfortunately, I had this during the Steepster Freeze and I misjudged how long it would take for things to get back up and running so I didn’t take notes down for it. I do remember that I enjoyed it a lot though – not as much as the Banoffee Pie but it was pretty darn good IIRC. Thankfully, I have enough to send a cup or two to VariaTEA and still get to revisit it again myself.

From what I recall it was more apple forward, but actually captured that toffee sweetness nicely…
