2015 GuShu HuaZhu Liangzi Raw 250g
A strong and mighty high mountain gushu, similar to Naka in quality and feeling. This year offered for almost a third of the price of Naka gushu. Heavy flavoured tea leaves were picked from very old tea trees, some even 600 years old, growing in a forest. The tea leaves were grown at altitude above 2000 metres on HuaZhu LiangZi the highest peak in Xishuangbanna.
Immediate sweetness, thick taste, soup, a more significant sweetness then the xiaoshu brother, when drunk as cold, its like a gushu pu-erh lemonade.

Very tender in the mouth accompanied by a calming, but intense, qi. Aromas of sweetgrass, mustiness, buttermilk. Very pungeant and bittersweet as it opens up. Strong mouth salivation and thickness, deep in the throat.

Turns rather uninteresting around the 7th steep. Bitterness with no other noticeable flavors.

It has been a few months since I had this and I’m not dissuaded that the flavor profile of this tea really stands out from other shengs. I’m picking up a more floral perfume this time along with the same mouth-watering thickness. Like an excellent poem, there seems to be something new to discover each time I try this.
