From Praise Tea Company

Se Chung has the classic taste sometimes served as “Chinese restaurant tea.” A lightly oxidized leaf, this initially nutty oolong reveals the subtle sweetness of brown sugar in its amber cup. A sophisticated dark amber liquor with an absolutely smooth finish for a very full bodied Oolong.

The leaves of this tea were very broken up and dusty. They are very dark, nearly black. I think perhaps my packet had been crushed. I treated it the same nonetheless. It smells toasty at first when dry. 195/3 min.

The taste has morphed from a toasty promise into a rich, roasted flavor. There is a slight sweetness to it that is slightly syrupy, along the lines of cane sugar or raisin. It’s a very nice, dark and full-bodied oolong. Very much like a sweeter roasted Dong Ding.

Se Chung is not as well-known as other styles of Chinese oolong such as Ti Guan Yin, but it is frequently servied in Hong Kong Chinese restaurants. The flavor and texture are velvet smooth, slightly sweet (even without sugar) and rich. Se Chung Oolong holds up better than many dark oolongs to multiple steeps.
