One of the best jasmine green teas. Nearly all the flowers have been removed and there is a high proportion of tips.

This remarkable tea allows the jasmine bouquet to fully develop during a 3-minute infusion.

About jasmine teas: in China, the best jasmine is gathered in August in the middle of the afternoon when the flowers are slowly beginning to open at the approach of twilight. The next step is the mixing of the dry tea leaves and flowers, which is done by placing 4 to 5 alternating layers of leaves and flowers on top of each other, each 4 to 6 inches deep. They layers are left in contact with each other for around 10 hours and are stirred regularly to reduce the temperature at the center of the pile, which should remain at about 98°F. The flowers are then picked out by hand, one at a time. The quality of the tea will depend upon how meticulously the workers remove the flowers. This process in repeated up to 7 times to produce the finest quality of jasmine tea, each with a new batch of fresh flowers.

It makes an exceptional pairing with milk chocolate!

I am doing a spring cleaning of tea and tea samples, trying to get some nearly empty tins emptied and revisiting swaps and samples. There was enough of this to make a bit for a tea follow-up to dinner.

The aroma of this tea makes my eyes roll back in my head. Ah, wonderful jasmine – not perfume-y, soapy jasmine. The steeped tea is a bold deep yellow, not a light lemony yellow like this morning’s Jaune Lemon. It leans a bit toward orange.

The tea base has a decided GOOD astringency, clearing the palate and freshening the breath. There is no bitterness. The jasmine is not overbearing but quite nice. This reminds me a little of Teavivre’s Chun Mee and as I near the end of the pot I feel like I am even getting a bit of that sweet plum aftertaste, but a bit lighter than in Chun Mee.

My first cold steeped jasmine tea. I usually brew my jasmine tea hot and leave it to cool anyway as to my preferable taste. This was left to cold steep for roughly 4 hours.

This has a thick and sweet jasmine fragrance that’s so strong it smells like jasmine perfume. I sell jasmine perfume made from essential oil at work and this is exactly the same, uncanny.

The flavour is as thick as the smell and I’m glad that I didn’t leave it to steep overnight. It edges on being too strong and perfumey with a little bitterness but it quickly subsides. It’s nice to have a jasmine tea with some punch to it. There is also a grassy taste amidst the jasmine.

Glad I cold steeped this, it’s fresher than I thought it would be. I have enjoyed cold steeping so much over this weekend that when I return home tomorrow the first thing I’m going to do is buy a couple of these funky sealed large mugs so I can make them whenever I please.

I couldn’t see this on the Le Palais Des Thes website any more. :(

My tea of the afternoon…. So light and refreshing! It has a sweetness all its own from the jasmine. Very enjoyable. I am not usually a fan of greens, but jasmine tea is yummy!

This tea was a gift from my friend Karen who spent two weeks with her Mother-in-law in Provence this Summer. Thank you, Karen!

24 oz. teapot, 4 actual tsp tea, 165 degrees, 3 minutes. Very lightly sweetened. Loving my variable electric kettle!

Third time’s the charm for Palais des Thes. After two disappointments, this jasmine is quite nice. However, their claim of “One of the finest jasmine teas with a high proportion of tips. This green tea has a velvety texture that highlights every aspect of jasmine without even a hint of bitterness,” is a bit exaggerated.

The tea is a nice quality green with a powerful jasmine aroma and flavour. No mistaking this tea- it’s jasmine through and through. It’s a bright, clean note- not soapy as some jasmine can be- but despite the promises, I do get a hint of bitterness as it cools. I brewed exactly as instructed because jasmines can be finicky.

At least this particular tea brewed nicely to a proper, recognizable cuppa. The last couple teas I tried from this brand were either terribly watery or had flavours so bland they were barely an afterthought. I’m going through the advent calendar but can’t imagine revisiting the brand unless the rest of their teas are spectacular.

Given the high price of this tea in the US, I wouldn’t repurchase. For a divine jasmine, I would have no problem splurging. But this, sadly is not, so I’d go with Yamamoto Yama Jasmine in a heartbeat. Almost as nice for about 3/4 less.

Palais Des Thes Advent Calendar Day 14:
Dry sachet just smells like a nice Jasmine tea quite floral.
Once steeped I found this to be somewhat watery thin in terms of the flavor. It’s not a bad Jasmine tea but I’ve definitely had much better ones that weren’t watery or thin. I even measured exactly 8 oz for the water. It’s kind of Eh overall and for the price you can definitely find a better jasmine tea like Steven Smith Teamaker’s for example.

Palais des Thés Advent Calendar – Day 14 (from November backlog)

This is an okay jasmine green tea.

I wouldn’t call it great or even good though. The base is a tad bitter with the recommended steeping parameters, but otherwise doesn’t have much flavor. The jasmine is fine but doesn’t have that fresh creamy sweetness that good jasmine-scented tea has. But it does at least taste natural and not like the weird jasmine flavoring that some cheaper teas have.

Nevertheless, I am content to sip on this and relax this evening, after a day of yard work. :)

I’ve had this for a few days and have been drinking it multiple times a day. I’ve tried a few different ways of brewing it, and I have to say that it works a lot better as a cold brew. It’s very perfumed, a bit too much for me. When brewed hot you can smell the jasmine, but the taste is very mild. Like. I dunno. I like light teas but this was just okay. Today I tried cold brewing it for a bit over an hour and it works a lot better. It’s a lot more flavorful, you can actually taste the tea and a little bit of… honeysuckle almost?

I’m very happy to have discovered how much better I like it cold brewed, because it makes for a very refreshing cup that way.

Super yummy Jasmine tea with no bitterness, just awesome flavor.

I like to cold brew this more than drink it after a hot infusion. I let it hang out in room temperature water for half an hour and then pull the leaves out. Perfection every time.

A pleasant jasmine tea that has a bit more grassy green tea flavor in it than other jasmines produced by the same firm. I like this a bit less than their Grand Jasmin Mao Feng, although that tea is notably pricier.
