大伯 (Dàbó) literally “Uncle” is a larger leaf black tea. Said to be produced for generations, this tea was made from larger leaves of older trees.
Harvest on May 20th, a sunny day. Some definite dry texture with a mellow fruit and grass fragrance. Imagine a trip to an old countryside house.
I asked my cousin to take a few photos of the garden and the leaves when he harvest the tea. Those are the last few photos.

Posting it here despite the fact that it is a 2021 harvest: there are not enough reviews for Old Ways Tea to split them by year.
Since I did not buy a lot of it I prepared it western style and was rather stingy with the amount of leaves. However, this tea performed quite well. Huge leaves produced a very satisfying aroma of dried fruit, apricot and bread. The soup was on the paler side.
The taste has been captured well by the previous reviewers: dried fruit (apple, apricot, peach), dark honey, nuts, sunflower seeds, some satisfying dryness. There was plenty of complexity and a long pleasing aftertaste. A lot of energy too. It reminded me of Jin Jun Mei (dryness), teas with snow chrysanthemum, and Red Temple from Whispering Pines.
All in all, this is a tea without any obvious flaws, with a unique and well-balanced taste. It comes to the personal preferences: some folks may find it solid, some – great, and I would be surprised if anyone will be outright disappointed.

Drank this one for Lunar New Year! The aromatics of this tea are kind of insane; reminds me of stewed purple fruits, leather and musk, and different kinds of incense and woods. This translates into the taste, for the most part – there’s a bit more emphasis on the oakier wood notes and the deeper raisin and stewed fruit notes are more of a persistent undertone than a main tasting note. I also get plenty of caraway, buckwheat honey, and dark spice notes with a bit of a rosey floral back end taste. It’s not an overall sweet session, though there are sweeter elements. I find it very, very grounding and it’s a bit hard to focus on anything else as I sip given how gently commanding this profile is.
