Spicy, peppery. Simple and thin. Lacking in complexity, depth, roundness, and body. The hard, sharp spices overpowered the rooibos, so it tasted empty and harsh. The clove was particularly strong, and there were no secondary flavours.

I’m not normally into Chai tea, but this is one of my favorites that I’ve tried. The chai and rooibos flavors blend well together, without being too harsh or bitter like some types of chai, or too earthy like some types of rooibos.

I’ve been searching for the best caffeine free tea to have in the evening, and I think I finally found it! Who would have thought that I would love a bagged Numi tea? It would be interesting to try this loose leaf.

The base is rather muted beneath the spices, appearing only as a bit of astringency and that mild rooibos flavor. Unlike the Apple cider, there is NOT an underlying sour note, which ruined that particular experience.

The highlight of this tea is the spices, well blended with several coming through at once: cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg…it’s like pumpkin pie without the pumpkin. I wonder what a hint of sugar or honey would do to this…

As far as rooibos teabags go, it’s hard to imagine doing better than this. It has that very same “honey” scent and flavor that seems to be standard for all rooibos, and my mug last night was sweet and soothing, just what I want from an evening tea. I can get better loose leaf from other places, so this won’t be a pantry staple for me, but I enjoyed this just fine.

This might be the mildest chai I’ve ever had that still tastes good. The dominant flavor is clove which blends into a mild flavor of cinnamon, with a hint of smooth woodiness from the rooibos in the background. It’s good on its own if you’re in the mood for a mild chai, but there’s no way it would stand up to milk. I’ll have to think about whether or not I want more of this. It might make a decent everyday sort of tea, but it doesn’t wow me.

Good evening Steepster. I’ve gotten into a habit where I drink black tea in the mornings, then some coffee, and green tea in the afternoon. I’ve definitely been trying to deplete my current supply so there hasn’t been a lot of new tea reviews from me. I miss my yixings and have been contemplating bringing one in to work every so often but I’m undecided it that would be a good idea.

This one I got a few days ago, I like rooibos chai especially in the evenings. Maybe I need to try this with two teabags, but I found it kind of light on flavor. I’m getting a bit of rooibos and some gingery clove, but it isn’t one of my favorite rooibos chais by far since it seems kind of light. I had it with soymilk and no sugar, it was ok like that. I suppose I will finish the box but this was just kind of “ok”

I had a chai latte at the Fyxx today, which was made with a bag of this. It was tasty but a bit milder than I was expecting/hoping. Also, I was surprised to see it was made with a rooibos chai rather than one with a black base.
