From New Mexico Tea Company

To honor the complex themes of The Night of the Iguana, this is an equally complex chai. A full-bodied black Assam imparts the chai with a wonderful depth. Next, white chocolate, caramel, and a heady blend of spices from the Malabar Coast of India were added to the mix – sharp ginger, cardamom, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper.

Ingredients:
Black tea, white chocolate, chopped and powdered ginger, cardamom, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, natural flavors

Origin:
Sri Lanka, India

It’s loud, brassy, and heavily spiced. Too much punch from the base tea; not enough balance. Lot of clove. Bitter. So bitter, and I didn’t even use boiling water. I wish I could provide a more thorough note, but I dumped this after the first few sips.

I can’t believe I am the first to review this tea… I know NMTea has had it for sale for awhile because I’ve looked at it before and considered buying. I got this sample in the Christmas card swap from Naylynn.

I do taste the chocolate, which is odd because being white chocolate and caramel I should only be getting sweet, not chocolate. Along with cloves, ginger and cinnamon. I didn’t notice black pepper. Overall, this is a very pleasant chai blend. I steeped with 1/2 water and 1/2 light cream, 2 teaspoons sugar. This goes on the wishlist. :)
