From Mountain Stream Teas

We recently asked our friend in Mingjian if he had any black teas for us and we were pleasantly surprised by this one. Perfectly aged, softly strong and amazingly priced we are happy to be able to share this one with you.

Made from the ‘Taiwanese’ Wuyi cultivar that was imported into Taiwan many years ago, this black tea is softly floral with sweet smooth black tea malts and a great mouthfeel. Made in the spring of 2020, it has been sitting on a shelf since then, coming into its own and maturing its flavors. In our opinion, it is now perfectly aged and ready to go.

It is easy to brew, soft on the palette and at this price point, it is one of the best value teas we have on the site right now!

Recommend Brewing Style:

Gong Fu Style: 3-5g per 100ml, ~95C water, 30, 45, 60 then add 5-10 seconds steeps in gaiwan. Lasts 5-6 steeps.

Western Style: 3g per 100ml, ~95c water for 1 minute. Lasts 2-3 steeps

This has has a subtle dark chocolate scent once steeped. The taste is fairly light-bodied with some cinnamon hints throughout, especially as the tea cools (and even more in the second steep). This was a really lovely tea overall!
