Another SHOCKER

I’m the first to log this on steepster!? Really!? WOW.
Description says it’s one of their signatures! Hum…

I will say it smells AWESOME! Pear, Caramel, Chocolate, and a Truffleness Scent…all 4 scents are present.

Post infusion…the scent reminds me of going into a candy store and walking by the chocolate section! Sweet but fruity chocolate – Oh my!!!!

When I taste it the first thought was “OH…this is a tasty treat!”. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th thoughts…
2…I can taste a blend of flavors but nothing too up in front of the others…they mesh well!
3…Perfect alternative to a dessert or other temptation when you are craving a sweet tooth.
4…I can see myself drinking this pretty darn FAST! This is good stuff!

It’s not intense by any means. But it sure is sweet and comforting.

I have a sample I haven’t broken into yet, but it smelled yummy!

silvermage2000 review sounds good.

I wish the flavors were stronger in it… but, overall, it’s a decent cuppa.

I dont find this particularly interesting. I dont get any lush fruitiness, or any intensity of chocolate.
What this is not, however, is bad. Its a perfectly acceptable black tea, with slight hints of….. something…. but the base is more then its additions.
Also, I noticed as I was dishing this out this morning that the tin has a picture of an orange on the front. Erm, shouldent it be a pear? Pears are rarely orange, round, and looking distinctly like a citrus.

I used more like a teaspoon and a half to a 12-oz mug, which means this smells heavenly, but after I actually paid attention to the directions, discovered that’s a little too strong. Which may be why I’m getting quite a bit of pear bite and not much truffleness in the flavor. But did I say this smells heavenly? I keep sticking my cold morning nose in the cup like a caramel pear truffle pig.

(Addendum): Adjustments made … less leaf, little less steep time … yum!!!

Another from Doulton’s Nabokov package!

The smell is pure homemade caramel, and no mistake. The taste brings out more of the pear and chocolate, and the whole thing coats the inside of your mouth in a most delightful way—-again, like homemade caramel (not those nasty hard things you find in the candy aisle). It’s like a decadent, desserty caramel treat without sticking to your teeth. This tea doesn’t need anything, although I believe a drop of cream or two wouldn’t go amiss. Then it’d be like dulce de leche/latte, depending on who you are and what you like to order. :)

Dessert heaven. I feel like this would probably be redundant at an afternoon tea, simply because you wouldn’t really need any tea cakes or other sweet nibbles with it. :)

Thanks to KallieBoo! for this sample! The smell of the dry leaves was a bit strong. Almost made me regret asking for it. It was much milder once brewed. I tried it without sugar at first, and it was…meh. Tasted like black tea, with a sort of caramel suggestion. A bit of sugar really allowed the caramel to come out just the right amount, and a hint of the smooth citrus. Not the most impressive tea, but I did enjoy it all the same.

This tea smells delicious! It has a caramel taste that comes off a bit bitter and the aftertaste is where you can find the pear and a hint of chocolate. It is a very nice blend of flavors. A delicious treat if you’re looking for a dessert tea!

The central smell I get from the dry leaf is caramel, rounded out with pear and chocolate notes. Brewed, the fruitiness of the pear is somewhat muffled, and the chocolate and truffle notes come to the fore. The flavor is sophisticated and balanced, and makes me want to go invent some desserts with pears, caramel, and chocolate. A sorbet, perhaps? Yum.

Today is going to be a busy stressful day. I’ve got a mountain of coursework to do and no desire to do any of it. As such I wanted something sweet an decadent to encourage myself. I reached for this.

This smells of caramel and a touch of truffle, with the barest hint of something fruity. Steeped up the smell is that of basic black tea, as well as sweet caramel.

I added sweetener (of course) and then because I was feeling indulgent, I added a splash of milk as well. Before added the milk, the black base was just as strong, if not stronger, than the caramel. After milk, the caramel became more creamy and apparent.

Even though the caramel is the star of the show here, there is some truffle at the end of the sip, and sometimes the pear comes out to play as well.

Appearance: broken leaf black with pieces of pear and malleable caramel chunks. Liquor: light reddish-brown, minimal sedimentation. Smell: sweet black tea. Honestly, I didn’t detect pear or caramel notes in either the dry or brewed tea. Taste: As with smell, I found this nondescript. It was smoother than a lot of black teas, which indicates that it was a good quality black tea leaf, and there was a softening element from something, but it wasn’t distinct. Sugar did help. 4/10.
