Ah, Tea and Toast, cinnamon toast. This is a perfect tea blend, for me. I love to start the day with a rich, balanced brew. I find myself coming back to this one again and again. Windsor Castle examples why blends exist, why they work. The strength and maltyness of Assam, on its own, is smoothed by the flowerness of the Kenya and livens up with the Darjeeling. It is flavory straight up. Not too strong. But, this one is also excellent with a touch of sugar and milk… and with the taste of crispy cinnamon toast accompanying.

I’m not such a big fan of blending Ceylon, Assam, and Darjeeling teas. I feel it muddies the true signature too much of each. Or perhaps I’m just a big fan of Ceylon. This is a nice full-bodied black tea, however it’s a ways down on my list when it comes to my first morning cup grab, or a nice afternoon lift. I keep thinking if I add some other tea to the mix my feelings about this one might change, but fear that the inherent issue is with the actual blend itself. Who knows, maybe the blend may grow on me over time.

I didn’t need to buy more tea, but I wanted another strong straight black tea to start my mornings. There’s a shop not too far from my house that sells only Metropolitan tea company teas, and honestly, I’m finding I like most of them that I pick up. I’m sure they aren’t the highest quality, but I’m not too worried about that when I usually just want something to wake me up in the mornings.
This is actually my second cup this morning. I’m so happy I picked this one up. It’s exactly what I was looking for in a straight black tea: malty, strong, and bold. Yum
