I only had a sample size of this, but my husband and I both loved it as an afternoon iced latte. We made it according to the instructions with 2% milk as the base. The matchaccino powder blended right in without any fuss and it made the kitchen smell like creamy caramel goodness in the process.

The latte itself was a beautiful bright jade green, very attractive color. When I first sipped it, I was kind of braced thinking the caramel might taste artificial. I shouldn’t have worried though, it was delicious! This was my first matcha experience and it was a good one. For my household, this could easily substitute for dessert, though I am sure it will also be a sweet matcha treat whenever the mood hits. Yum!

This is one of those things that got buried in the back of my cabinet so I forgot I had it… For the record: it makes an excellent addition to a banana milkshake. (… I might just start adding it to everything now, just to see how it goes…)

I received a free sample of this from Red Leaf and boy am I glad that I did, it was a really nice morning treat.

I’m going to be spending the entire day at a birthday party for 2 year olds and I figured I would need all the extra energy I could muster up. This fit the bill perfectly and was super easy to make using my magic bullet and warm milk. It frothed up nicely and I didn’t need to worry about frothing milk separately, which is one of the reasons I don’t make more milk based drinks at home. I’m super lazy in the mornings and I love that this took no energy at all to prepare. This could possibly change my not a morning person ways. Maybe. I’m really not a morning person.

With the first sip I was hit with a wonderfully strong caramel flavor followed up by the sugar rush. There is a lot of sugar in this so next time I try it I’ll probably only use half the suggested amount. I don’t generally consume this much sugar so early in the morning, so this is a personal preference.

Received this as a free sample with my last RLT order. There was enough for 2 servings. The dry mix smells of sweet, thick, golden brown caramel. Like those Kraft caramel squares used in cooking, or just for a treat.

First, I tried this as a cold latte. The instructions call for using a blender to mix matcha, milk and ice, but I used my martini shaker. I used half of the sample, about 2 tsp, 8 oz skim milk and one ice cube. I shook it up for about 1 minute. It frothed up super nice. I didn’t have to froth any milk separately to add to the top. It tastes delicious. There is a creamy caramel flavour. It is nicely sweetened but not overly sweet. It is very thick, even though I only used skim milk. It is very smooth. You can tell that it is matcha, but it is a very slight taste underneath the caramel flavour. This makes a great latte, somewhat better than when you use just the regular flavoured matcha.

Also made this one as a hot latte. Frothed up about 8 oz warm skim milk and added to the rest of the sample. Hot, it is very similar taste to the cold latte. It is still very sweet caramel, but less sweet and a lot more creamy than when made cold.

I like this one both ways, would just depend on my mood for whether I have it hot or cold. I think this is a great idea for anyone that likes flavoured matcha, or matcha lattes. It is easy. It is also much less calories (58 cal, 0g fat) and much less expensive than buying a latte at the coffee shop.

This is definitely going on my next order, you can find it here:http://www.redleaftea.com/matchaccino/caramel-matchaccino.html

Oh, this is so dangerous! I haven’t been loving hot matcha lately — it’s been thin and lacking flavor for me, but this is something different! I mixed some of this up with some soy milk and ice — it’s SO tasty. I feel like this is what people have been talking about when they rave about caramel & matcha. It’s sweet, creamy and has the perfect touch of caramel. The matcha flavor itself is definitely hidden, but comes out at the end of the sip. Maybe I should try making my regular caramel matcha with milk instead of water… This matcha is definitely better when had cold, blended and with milk and ice.

I do like that there are not too many calories in this mix, but there is quite a bit of sugar for a serving. It’s not something that I should drink multiple times in a day, but it does make a nice, sweet treat every once and a while. I need to buy more of this… it’s just truly that good! HOLY COW IS THIS DELICIOUS.

I just followed the directions on the insert for the cold version (hot water, ice, and then milk… only half and half instead of milk because I don’t have plain milk). This is amazing.

I can’t wait to try this in different methods. YUM.

Thanks to Red Leaf Tea for having this on super discount so I could try it without fear. I’ll definitely be buying more matcha from them!

(I need to also buy some milk…)

Christina

Your description of this is persuasive. I think I’m going to have to buy some.

Got a sample of this from Cavocorax because I wanted to dip my toe (so to speak) into the whole Matcha deal, but I didn’t want to buy a large amount of it from somewhere and then end up not liking it.
The smell is very sweet caramel. It reminds me of really good caramel candies actually. Mmmmm. Caramel Candy…too bad it gets stuck in my teeth.
Anyway, so I mixed a tsp into 8oz of milk and stirred/mixed like crazy until I couldn’t see any little spots through the bottom of the measuring cup. I probly got the ratios all wrong for it, or something, but whatever.
After the foam faded off, it was this, errr, kinda grey/greenish color, that made me slightly dubious about it, but then, I was expecting a brighter green. Which makes me suspect that maybe I didn’t use enough? Or else it’s because I just don’t know what color it should have been in the first place. Lol! I didn’t add any ice or anything to this because I wanted to see what it was like straight.

So tentative sip and….oh. Oh Wow! Caramel milk goodness. Seriously. I was expecting a bitter, green-something taste because that’s been my experience with green tea in the past, and this really awful matcha dry fruit mix I got a sample of once. But nope. Total caramel goodness. I ended up drinking the whole cup so fast I don’t really even remember drinking it.
Next time I’ll probly try 1 1/2 tsp, or possibly 2 tsp, next time I make it, just cause it can’t hurt. But I’d definitely order this in the future. And it really makes me want to try other matchas now. Awesome experience is….well, awesome. Lol!

Oh mannnn, are you kidding me? This stuff is GOOD. I blended it up with ice, will have to try it hot. It tastes kind of like sweet toasted almond to me, in addition to caramel. I don’t really get much of a tea taste, but I wasn’t expecting to.

Ok, so this is my first attempt ever to make a matcha latte. Seeing how I don’t have any of the proper equipment like a bamboo whisk or whatever, I think I did okay. I think I could have used more matcha to milk ratio because it tastes mostly like warm caramel-flavored milk to me. I was reading online about matcha lattes and how some people opt to add sugar. I’m glad that I tasted it before I did because it is extremely sweet on its own. Maybe it’s because I didn’t add enough matcha, but I am not getting much of the matcha taste itself. I am, however, getting an overwhelming caramel, so maybe it is just the caramel masking other tastes. Anyway, I still have enough to go at it again, so I will try try again!

You all probably know by now that I like trying new things, especially if they are unusual or outside of my comfort zone, especially when it comes to foods and drinks. When I was window shopping for new teas to try I ran across Red Leaf Tea a company that specializes in fancy flavored Matcha. I admit, I did a double take, flavored Matcha? I have never heard of that but I was immediately intrigued, especially when I saw the awesome sale the flavor I am reviewing today was having. I had to try it and see what I think about flavored Matcha.

Caramel MATCHAccino is a fancy blend suitable for making Matcha Lattes (I admit I am a barbarian, this is my favorite way to drink Matcha) all I need was milk, ice, a blender, and whip cream. sadly I did not have any whip cream and I loathe ice in things (too cold, my teeth are super sensitive to that) so I just whipped up a milky blend. Before I get to the blending I should describe the aroma when I open the bag, and what an aroma it is! Intensely sweet caramel aroma just wafts up and gently slams you in the nose, and I say that as a compliment. With just the powder I do not smell much in the way of Matcha, just caramel sweetness.

Adding the milk and mixing it up the aroma becomes more like caramelized sugar rather than caramel candies, which I prefer actually. I had an incident when I was younger involving a tub of caramel sauce and just can not find the same pleasure as I once did. There is also more of a Matcha aroma as well, fresh and green and very distinctive. One of my favorite smells!

First I am going to try the drink cold since you can have it both ways (woohoo! versatility!) first thing I notice is creamy sweetness and then Bam! Matcha flavor! The taste is grassy and green and the caramel is like caramelized sugar. In fact I would say that this drink tastes like a Matcha flavored Flan! I need to make one of those now. I should also note that this drink feels really good on my sore throat.

Next is warm. I should apologize for the photo, I was a good ways into drinking it before I realized I forgot to take the blasted thing. The first thing I notice is that the aroma is much creamier and even more like a Flan. The taste is very rich and creamy, I would go so far as to say decadent. The taste of the Matcha is much more distinct and the sweetness takes on a burnt sugar taste and a bit of sugar cookies as well. I am not sure which of these versions I prefer since they are both really good! My first foray into flavored Matcha was a success and I am certainly intrigued to try some of my favorite flavors mixed with Matcha. Anyone want to take a guess at which flavor I am most likely to try next?
