I had some of this kicking around from months ago when Stephanie sent some to me in a swap. I’ve done a tasting note on it, but I had it as a cold latte before. Yesterday (maybe the day before) Stephanie had a delicious sounding tasting note for a hot latte, and so I dug this out and that’s exactly what I did.

Delicious! I really need to order some of this and the Coconut flavour for my cupboard.

This was yummy!! but not quite what I was expecting. Almost, though. I need to try it as a hot latte. This time, I used milk, ice, and matcha in a blender. And then, because I’m not used to my “smoothies” have such a thin consistency, I threw in half a banana.
Not sure whether I added too much milk or not enough ice. Next time I’ll have to be more careful in measuring, as I was distracted by company. My neighbour’s sump pump burst and flooded their basement and part of the main level (talk about stinky), which means she’s been spending a lot of time at our place today/last night. Which is great, I love her! but it also means I’ve got next to no work done haha
and also why I haven’t gotten to my samples yet! well, I did try one but need to do them all side by side after having them individually.
Bah. I gotta go. Amazing weather out there!!

Fjellrev

Floods always have me worried. That is terrible! I hope they get that taken care of soon.

TeaLady441

The banana is a great idea! I used one in mine and it vastly improved the flavour/consistency, but then again I do like bananas.

Indigobloom

Oh yah, they have excellent insurance and already had workers there today taking care of it! but this is a long weekend coming up… so now that they’ve done the “triage” so to speak, nothing more will happen til next week. Not that it matters, since the damage is now contained! and it’s been sanitized heh

Indigobloom

Oh phew!! I am SO glad I’m not the only one who did that. Seriously, I almost left that part out of my review! oh and we only had bananas that were a little green, whereas for a smoothie (and only a smoothie, or maybe banana bread), I prefer slightly overripe ones.
No matter, I’m really looking forward to a summer of matchaccinos!!! :P

Lala

How does this matchaccino compare to the regular flavoured matcha?

Indigobloom

Lala, Hmmm I’d have to say they are different experiences. I found it slightly similar in flavour to the caramel matcha, made as a latte. However it was a lot more sugary! not overly so, for me.

Indigobloom

now that I’ve compared the caramel vs caramel matchaccino, I’d have to say the caramel is much sweeter, with less of a cocoa/coffee note. Both are great!

Lala

Thanks, that’s good to know.

Coconut, distinctive level flavoring. One pound package. Free shipping sucked me in again. No regrets, though, because the sugary deliciousness of this burns with the intensity of 1000 suns. I will never get a green tea frappe from Starbucks again (that statement is almost definitely a lie).

I made this up as a warm latte, with one tablespoon of powder and about a cup of frothed soy milk. I didn’t sift or whisk anything up although I superstitiously stirred with a spoon a few times in a halfhearted manner. There was no debris at the bottom so I figure I got away with it.

My invoice says I ordered Caramel but the package label and it’s powdery green contents clearly say Coconut. I’m not phased by this whatsoever, and wasn’t fully invested in caramel anyways.

I’ve tried the the regular coconut matcha from Red Leaf at a robust level, and wasn’t particularly won over by the whole sunscreen on the beach vibe. It turned out to be an excellent flavour here, however; it’s a lot lighter on the senses than the robust coconut matcha. This is exactly how I like my coconut, creamy, thick, and light, with a good dash of sweetness to boot. One pound will likely not last too long.

Courtney

So this one was supposed to be caramel I gather? I love coconut and this sounds delicious. I even have their website opened now to check it out, though I’ve gone a wee bit overboard ordering lately…

ashmanra

Oooo, this is the next one I want to order, but I thought in would get regular matcha rather than MATCHAccino and upgrade the base one notch. It sounds soooo good.

OMGsrsly

Oh, it’s so good. I have the same one and use it in my smoothies every morning. If it wasn’t almost bedtime, I’d try it hot. :)

Full reivew on http://sororiteasisters.com/ later today but here are my snippets:

MATCHAccino from Red Leaf Tea is anything and everything a person on the go could want! For that matter it is anything a person who wants to lavish in a sweet inexpensive matcha latte at home could want! Its everything anyone could want! It provides a healthy way to indulge in sweet caramel goodness that provides a nice energy boost without feeling cruddy like you would after a typical energy drink. The flavor is perfection. Sweet caramel candy like yumminess with a sweet green matcha flavor to boot. I do add whipped cream to mine often and love it. Just like the description says, it tastes as good as, if not better than a milkshake!

I can’t express how easy this is to make, and I admit, I’m rather lazy. If something takes too much prep time I lose interest in it fairly quickly. this literally takes me no longer than two minutes to prepare. Using their measuring scoop I put the powder into my lidded glass drinking vessel, after adding my almond milk so that the powder does not get weighted down and stuck to the bottom, put the lid on, shake about ten times, and I’m sipping on what I could have paid five bucks for at a coffee (now trying to be a tea shop) shop. Big difference though is that this is only a little over a dollar, under a dollar when you buy a larger size pouch!

So the difference between this and just caramel matcha is what?!? I think it’s sugar. When I added sugar to this, it was too sweet to drink it, I had to dilute it. I add the same amount of sugar to caramel matcha and it is fine. Also, the sample they sent me with purchase was way more than I normally would add to an 8 oz cup of cold matcha latte.

It is also a little chalky. But hey, it was free sample with purchase and if you let it sit a bit, the “chalk” settles and you can enjoy this decadent drink.

I added the matcha to a travel bottle and added a little warm water and a tsp of sugar. I shook the bottle to dissolve. I then added 8 oz cold milk and shook the bottle again. Poured over ice, stuck in a straw and …. Sluurppp!

ashmanra

Yes, the difference is that the matchaccino is pre-sweetened and has a thickening agent added. I checked the ingredients when they first proposed it and I didn’t see anything I object to in my food, and I am pretty picky about additives. I bought three big bags of it. LOL!

MissB

Yep, I checked with them too to find out the difference, and that’s all it is: pre-sweetened and a thickening agent. So basically cuts out a step. I find this much better as a smoothie/milkshake.

Whoops! I did a sipdown of this earlier today (at 109 now – Sil!) and it doesn’t look like I’ve ever written a note for it.

So here goes. I’ve tried this in the blender multiple times, and I’ve tried it by mixing powder into my timolino with milk and stirring it, and I’ve also down the same, but added ice and shook it, and they basically all turned out the same. I never did get that frappacinno consistency but in the end I didn’t care either. It was tasty and it hit the spot.

I think though, in the future, I’d rather just get flavoured matcha from Red Leaf as I typically drink matcha without any sugar and if I can get by without it, why not go that route instead?

I think it’s a great idea though, and I hope Red Leaf sells a ton of it. It’s much cheaper and very convenient compared to the coffee-shop equivalent!

Sil

You still suck lol come pick up your teas so your cupboard goes back up!

TeaLady441

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if I grab my teas, doesn’t that mean that YOUR numbers will go up too?

Sil

Um…not as high though!

OMGsrsly

I find I get the creamy texture if I add a little banana. Of course, I used to get my green tea frapps made with soy milk, green tea powder and ice. Nowadays, I still get it with only 1 pump base…

Let me say first off, that this is my first foray into Matcha. As I didn’t have the proper supplies, someone suggested I use my french press to get a froth, so thats what I did.

This…this is heaven in a cup. I think I used far too little Matcha powder after reading things up online, the ‘how to’s’ I read online about how to make it with the press had said use a teaspoon. I’m assuming their stuff was different because using that much here I got mildly flavored milk, but it was still delicious. It strikes me as a good alternative for a day when I’m craving hot chocolate but wanting something with a little more oomph.

This was sent to me from TeaSipper, and I’m really thankful for the ability to try it without paying an exorbanant amount for something I may not end up liking.

Super pleased with this, going to try more here in a moment with more powder because I really think the flavor being upped some wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.

tea-sipper

I’m glad you like it! This is matchaccino though, different from a matcha serving. My bag comes with a scoop that IS bigger than a teaspoon.. I don’t know how much exactly.. it could be a tablespoon.

JennyFur

Thank you for that. I’ll give it a try with a teaspoon this next time.

HEAVEN on EARTH! The oh so generous Stephanie sent me this in a thank you package that arrived today and I could not wait to try it! It was soooooo delicious. You definitely do NOT need sugar and is so naturally sweet. You can taste the caramel right away and the scent it very creamy and sweet. I absolutely love it! Great alternate to the one i usually get at my local coffee shop here i San Luis Obispo. I added some brown sugar the second time and did it with soy and that was delicious as well! I’m so sad I’m all out:/ matcha is just not in my budget and that makes me so sad. Oh well. Until next time. We shall meet again. Hopefully sooner than later. Thank you so much for this!

I saw this in the Traveling Teabox B and decided I needed to try it. I fell in love D: I made it as a hot latte with warm milk and a couple scoops and shook it in my tumbler. Mmmm it’s so creamy. The caramel flavor is there, but not too much. I just can’t get over the creaminess. This would be nice to take to work when I work the early shifts and its chilly :D
