I love cookies and cream ice cream. I love Oreos. I love cookies and cream candy bars. So this was another flavor I suggested when Red Leaf Tea asked what kind of flavors we’d like to see in matcha. And oh, was it ever a good choice. Yum. The cream part I knew would be good, Red Leaf Tea has always been amazing with their creamy matchas. But the cookie part was also very present and very delicious. It honestly felt like I was drinking an Oreo. This cup got me through my first day back at work after a week off for my brother’s wedding. It was wonderful and I kept reaching for it, even as the day got crazier and crazier. I may have to make another cuppa to get me through today….but no, I have so many other new, wonderful matchas to try! Though I think mixing this with the cheesecake matcha would be too wonderful to be believed. I want to just go sniff the matcha, but my nose is all stopped up and I wouldn’t be able to appreciate the goodness of it. Sad. But this is definitely one to keep around for ever. If you haven’t tried it, I whole-heartedly recommend it. (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/cookies-and-cream-matcha.html)

Well, I still can’t make matcha correctly. I tried it the way I make hot cocoa. Perhaps I used too much of the powder. It certainly smelled good, but the cookies and cream didn’t come out in the flavour until I added a little sugar.

Cheri

I don’t get a lot of flavor out of the flavored matchas until I upped the flavor strength in my orders. I usually get at least distinctive if not robust flavor.

Stephanie

I always have to sweeten my matcha…that’s part of why I don’t drink more matcha

I was so SO excited to finally try a Red Leaf matcha, it was probably the main reason I leapt at a swap with VariaTEA because she put one on her list—and then sent me another THREE to try as well! I’ve been so overwhelmed that I haven’t gotten around to them yet.

UNTIL TONIGHT!

I opened some almond milk and made a quick latte and it was a perfect desserty treat, which is exactly what I expected of this. Awesome!

VariaTEA

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Of the ones I sent you, this was my least favorite so hopefully you enjoy the others as well.

I thought the idea sounded great I love oreos but not this. As wonderful as chocolate tea sounds it is not for me, taste chemically fake. I forget I’m a little picky with real chocolate also.

Something in here immediately reminded me of the disaster that was Belgium Chocolate matcha for me. Le sigh.

At least I can be happy about one less matcha to stock!

SSTTB: Pick #5

Still haven’t bought milk yet, but today on break I went to Subway and got a couple bottles of vanilla flavoured milk to try with different matches. And when I got home I remembered this one was in the box, and I haven’t tried this flavour before so I thought “why not, that’ll go good with vanilla!”.

Since the milk is in bottles I just added a 1/2 tsp. of matcha to the bottle and shook it around a whole bunch with the cap on. It actually did a really good job blending it, and it was nice and frothy. I wasn’t totally wrong about this one being good with vanilla; it did have a definitely cookies and cream vibe, although to me it was more like Hershey’s Cookies and Cream chocolate bars than Oreos (like in the picture). The mail problem was just that it was very, very sweet! Cloying levels of sweet.

My hunch is that’s more because of milk than anything else though and since there’s pretty much a full 30g bag of this in here I may just take another tsp. or two to set aside for when I do have milk so that I can try it without the vanilla milk.

Holding off on rating.

I have been lucky enough to receive some yummy matchas from swaps lately. I didn’t understand why people would make spreadsheets for their tea. Well, now I understand! I have no idea who sent me some of these teas. Why did think I would remember? But who ever sent me the next couple teas that I log… well, thank you very much! :D
I made the Cookies and Cream Matcha as a latte with 1 tsp. in 6 oz cold lite soy milk with a couple ice cubes. I added a touch of stevia. Blend and , whoa! What I nice dessert. Very satisfying and refreshing. The cookie and cream flavor is gentle and i would probably like it a little more in my face, but I would recommend it to all dessert drinkers. It really worked as a sweet treat for my dieting. I still have to be careful about the calories in the soy milk, but at least it’s nutritious. I lost another 4.2 pounds in the last two weeks.(total, drum role… 24.6 pounds!!)

Flavors: Cocoa, Cream

Have you tried almond? I think it’s Almond Breeze that is incredibly low cal.

While slightly chemically (mostly when its a bit cooled down honestly, this is what happens when you drink hot things at work) this is exactly what it says on the label. Cookies and cream and matcha blended. In my head the idea had more…cream to it then this did, but it was in no way bad. I don’t think I’d order a full order of this, but I’m super glad to have tried it.
