From Mandala Tea

Black Beauty is a very fitting name for this wonderful tea! If you are a fan of Keemun style black teas, you will want to try this one. Most of our customers and myself, now prefer this over the Keemun black. It is wonderfully sweet, almost chocolatey and little to no astringency present!

The tea liquor is clear and longer steepings will give it a slightly red hue.

This was a sample generously included in my order. And one that I’ll have to add to my next order.

This is smooth. Medium gold red color. Hay and dry grass, wheat stalks, medium malt, mainly smooth.

“Like a baby’s behind” smooth. And if you recognize that quote, you have excellent taste in bad movies. :)

I’m pretty sure this is my favorite black tea that Garret carries, it’s so lovely!

I woke with a headache and having finished a big mug of Dark Beauty, I am having some Black Beauty for my second round of tea this morning. I have the Dark Beauty mixture so often and I frequently forget how gorgeous the BB is all on its own. Chocolaty, malty, keemuny and a sweet nectar on top that is helping chase away my headache.

Good luck… I went straight for the coffee! :)

i’m so glad I picked this tea with my recent order. I didnt have a sample but had a feeling I’m going to like it. I love this tea. Dark chocolate, dried stone fruits, rye bread w/caraway and coriander seeds. its naturally sweet with some slight sour notes. Long sweet aftertaste.
Dry leaves are long and twisty and its hard to measure by spoon( I need to get scale). As usual short steeped.
a little more than 1 TBS 150ml 208F
rinse 5/5/10/15/20/25
later steeps introduce some smoke notes

Flavors: Bread, Chocolate, Stonefruit

I received this tea in a swap with Dexter3657 thank you so much for sending me such a lovely black tea.

It smells cocoa and a earthy not. I brew it western style. The liquor is quite darked amber.
I really enjoy it both very hot and as it cools even if I absolutely agree with Dexter3657 the main lovely notes for me , the fruity ones & apricot especially and baked bread, are most present while the tea is cooling.

The only little point is I would have prefered it with a little bit more body and it is “just” medium bodied. This is a very little point because I do frankly love it.

I’ll retry with a longer steep to see if I can ameliorate the body to adjust to my tastes.
