I got this as a Lupicia sample, and, questing for a bagged black for this morning, I plucked it out of my sample bowl.
Eh not bad! I’m not the worlds biggest fan of plain blacks, but this is smooth and pleasant. I’m not going to rush right out for more, but its pretty good for this morning.
Sample sipdown!

Rich but soft aroma and flavor, doesn’t have the astringency of some strong black teas. It almost has a bit of a floral undertone to it, and went very well with milk and sugar. Glad I saved this one for morning and not afternoon.

On another note, I’m desperately trying to get this year’s Book of Tea now. No luck so far…

dinosara was kind enough to send me a sample of this one in our swap. It was a tea that i’d looked at picking up in my lupicia order, but for whatever reason didn’t’ (maybe it was sold out) this is a reasonable assam. It’s malty with a little bit of a kick. It’s not as bold as i sometimes like me tea, but had i ordered this, would have had no issue with finishing it off :)

A straight up deliciously malty assam. There’s a bit more astringency than I usually like here, which is why I prefer their Good Morning blend, but I am not one to complain about a tea that takes milk and sugar with aplomb! A simple tea for a hopefully simple Monday! (Warning: steeps quickly for an assam, as there is ctc here….2 minutes max!)

A sample from Dinosara.

Sadly, this assam isn’t to my taste at all. It’s a little dusty, a little weak, somewhat malty. It doesn’t have much of that unique bright ‘assam’ flavour, although it is still identifiable. It feels like it’s hiding under the blankets. The ones in the cupboard that have been there for months and need a good wash before they’re put on the bed.

I prefer my assams to be bright and malty. Different than this. More than this. Yet still somewhat similar.

Thank you for sharing, Dinosara. It’s not one I’ll be picking up in the future. :)

OMGsrsly

Maybe see about a sample first. I don’t think it’s a fabulous assam.
