This is the last packet from my Matcha au Lait sampler. I had to steal the photo and description from Lupicia’s Japanese site, as they don’t appear to offer this flavor on the US one. Prepared as before, whisked powder in a splash of 175° water and then diluted with soy milk.
Yummy, this flavor is also delicious. The matcha base is sweet and grassy, and the milk adds creaminess. There is a lovely subtle roasted nut flavor. I’m not sure I would guess chestnut specifically, but it has a nice richness to it. It’s not quite as roasty-tasting as the kinako flavor, but perhaps the roast is a bit darker here.
I’ve loved all of these Matcha au Lait mixes from Lupicia. Now I want matcha every morning! Since I won’t be starting my Bird & Blend matcha advent until December, I’ve ordered a couple of pouches of flavored matched from 3 Leaf to try in the meantime… :D
