Tea companies always seem to send me jasmine teas as samples, and I’ve been stalling on trying this for over a month because I’m not a fan of them. Not that I’m ungrateful, I most definitely am, especially since you never know, I may find one that I like. However, I find this to be like most jasmine greens out there. Jasmine tea smells like mothballs to me, and carries a similar, or at least I’d imagine, flavour, as well. The mandarin here was absent, but perhaps because I’m hypersensitive to jasmine. Not for me, and the score between jasmine tea and me remains the same.

Ya, I’m not a jasmine fan either. I still have my sample of this one. :/

Interesting how you got one too. They must really pimp it!

It’s so nice of Lupicia to send out a free sample with their newsletter. Jasmine tea has always been a favourite of mine. It’s one of the only teas I always put honey into. I feel like it really brings out the jasmine flavor. This tea I’m actually quite impressed with. Y can really taste the mandarin. It does leave a bit of a bitter taste but the jasmine flavor helps with that immensely

You should try Marriage Freres’s version sometime! I think it even tops Lupicia’s!

Another tea from the book and once again it’s one my mom picked out and one that I wouldn’t chose for myself…ever. As I sip on it now, I can confirm that this really isn’t for me. I get mandarin mostly in the scent of tea while jasmin takes over tastewise. It’s drinkable but not really memorable in any way. I have had better teas with these flavors and I have had worse. This is sort of just there. 295.

I think I brewed this a bit to strong because I’m getting quite a jasmine bite! I cold steeped it overnight and may not have added enough water. Waiting for some ice to melt and dilute it a little. I can smell a little mandarin in it right before I sip, then the jasmine takes over, then the mandarin comes back on the end a bit. Sweetening it a little and waiting for the ice to melt makes this a much nicer cup. The jasmine isn’t biting as much and I taste the mandarin much sooner in the sip, but there is a little bite on the end. It is really nice and might be a good alternative price wise to the Mariage Freres version of this, but it is missing something that MF has that knocks it up another level. Could be the intensity of the flavors isn’t there in the same way.

I’m still around! Though I haven’t had as much time for tea as I would have liked…

This came with the Lupicia newsletter. I was surprised to see I had given it a rating of 65 before…probably didn’t enjoy it so much when brewed hot? This time I made it iced, and it’s a nicely refreshing jasmine green tea. Smooth, just a little sweet, and with very fresh floral qualities. Definitely glad to give it another try.

On another note, I will be visiting China this summer…definitely a lot of tea to try (among other things), though all of it will probably be logged under the “random/unknown” category here!

Not bad, thought it’d be pretty harsh since the other time I had jasmine tea it wasn’t too good… But it wasnt, it was alright but not super good…

I like this tea very much. The jasmine aroma and flavor are very present, but not overpowering, and the green tea is not bitter or metallic (which has happened in some jasmine green teas I have tried). A very soothing combination.
