From Lupicia

Momo is black tea scented with fresh, Japanese white peaches. Peach leaves are blended for an added fruitiness. A great choice for making iced tea.

Lupicia, Lupicia, Lupicia! Another Dexter sample here. This is Lupicia’s version of a peach black tea. The leaves are small to medium in size, and almost black in color. There appear to be pieces of some sort of dried green leaf mixed in, not sure what that is. Dry scent is sweet peach nectar, yum!

Once steeped, it smells more like other peach teas than peach nectar – the tart element isn’t there anymore. On a side note, I used my infuser insert that came with my new mug (it’s a ceramic one, not mesh), so now there are little pieces of tea floating around in the bottom of my mug. Harumph. I think I accidentally used too much water this time around, as the flavor is somewhat weak. The flavor that is there tastes remarkably similar to all of the other generic peach black teas I’ve tried. I guess peach is a flavor profile that I would prefer more as a fruit tisane or perhaps a green tea.

Sipdown! Though, I never added this to my Steepster cupboard, so it’s a real life cupboard sipdown only. I had a sample teabag of this tea that I’ve been meaning to get around to but keep forgetting about. I recently reorganized all of my teas, so I’m steadily making progress from my new sipdown box. Anyway, I really love Momo Oolong from Lupicia, so I thought I’d see how this one fares in comparison. I think that the oolong version has more of a candy peach taste while this one has more of a floral, perfume-y peach flavor. That being said, I’m not really a huge fan of perfume-y teas, so that did put me off a little. It wasn’t overwhelming, but it was just enough that I prefer the oolong version. I’m a little saddened by this because I’ve been in a black tea phase lately, and this would have been nice to add to the mix. No worries, though, because I now live near a Lupicia and I will get around to exploring more of their teas!

At long last, I get to try this. White peaches are one of my favourite fruits, and this tea smells so much like them. Great scent of peach in both leaves and brew. The flavour is sweet, and a bit juicy, certainly tastes like white peaches.

Worth my trip out of town for some yesterday.

Yay! That’s a good one!

It seems kinda low rated, but I like it. White peaches win all!

Momo again wasn’t a particular favorite. Probably because I had just eaten a peach before actually drinking the tea. The peach flavor wasn’t as genuine as I would have liked, nor was it as strong. The black tea flavor comes through to the forefront, leaving a bit of a bitter aftertaste and some astringency. For those who like mild fruity flavored blacks, this is the way to go.

This has a pleasant peach scent, more like dried peaches than fresh, but very natural and not at all cloying.

The taste is…just okay, a decently malty, not too strong or distinguished black tea (I’m guessing Assam) with just a bit of the peach undertone.
