Tried it, liked it, added soy milk…Loved it! I am not a fan of soy milk and you can even say i think its gross (: but Sweet Autumn tastes awesome with it brewed hot on a chilly autumn afternoon. I liked how you can taste the nice pumpkin and sweet potato notes! I added some agave nectar to sweeten, which i usually don’t do when drinking tea but this was a good exception. Knowing how Rooibos doesn’t burn, I brewed this tea for 10 minutes to get a nice full body steep. I added warm soy milk and some agave nectar and…voila! You got yourself a nice cup of bomb milk tea!

I’ve only had a few different rooibos teas and I’ve liked them all until this one. This actually reminds me of Asian barley/corn tea~ it might be the chestnut that I find overpowering that is reminding me of the sweet, raw corn taste. The tea is much finer than tea leaves so I used a third of what I normally scoop~ steeped at 195F @ 4minutes (Rating: 35)

Update: Okay, so I tried different steeping times and amount of tea; I did 1/6 of what normally scoop for tea, 195F @ 2 minutes and it came out a lot milder than before. I’m going to change my rating to 45~

For the sipdown prompt, “a pumpkin tea.”

This is an interesting tea. It’s a combination of Japanese autumnal flavors: pumpkin, sweet potato, and chestnut. It has an interesting squashy pumpkin flavor, which is so unique to taste in the absense of spices. It reminds me a lot of the pumpkin-flavored houjicha by Ocharaka in flavor, though obviously much sweeter and less roasty due to the different base teas. I don’t really taste any sweet potato, and wonder if it’s just adding some overall sweet notes to the tea, as it does veer sweeter rather than really savory despite the squashy aspects. The chestnut, however, is quite distinct and tasty; it’s the same flavor from their Marron Chocolat tea, which is one of my Lupicia favorites.

I’ve had this now as a straight hot cuppa and also as a warm latte; both are nice, but I prefer the latte. Plain, more of the umami characteristics pop, as the rooibos tastes a bit more woody, but the creaminess and sweetness of the milk makes the rooibos base have a sort of sweet caramel note which mixes so nicely with the pumpkin and chestnut.

I don’t normally like rooibos but it’s balanced out by the chestnut (and sweet potato). This has been my go to non-caffeinated tea in the evenings!

I was hoping to taste more chestnut and woody flavour, but this is your typical dried apple rooibos. Strong red rooibos flavour, sweet dried apple, and that’s about it.

It tastes like sweet potatoes and smells very buttery. Definitely one of the stranger teas I’ve tried, but I really enjoyed it. I made a second steep and put it in the fridge for later, and it tasted every bit as strong as the first steep. Tasty hot or cold. I wouldn’t drink this all the time, but I’m so glad I tried it.

I’m sad that I don’t seem to like red rooibos anymore, because I used to really like this tea! Maybe I’ll give it another chance some evening this weekend… :)

Not sure of this one. It’s definitely a fall blend. Pumpkin and sweet potato shine among the flavors but the rooibos mixes with them to create a slightly weird flavor.

Thank you Cameron B. for passing along a sample! Regardless of the fact this is Lupicia, and I want to try as much Lupicia as I can, I was stoked because it’s a sweet potato tea. Just like root beer teas, I want to have as many Sweet Potat’ers as possible.

Made in my timolino and, well, this is certainly the most sweet potato flavoured sweet potato tea I’ve had to date. It’s almost alarmingly strong and distinct with just a big of nut and pumpkin flavour to offset it a little, and a sweetness that reminds me a bit of burnt sugar and a bit of brown sugar (which are definitely different flavours). It’s almost too ‘tater-y for me, though. By the end I’d just kind of had enough.

It’s too ‘tater-y for the Sweet Potat’er club.

I have one more cup left; and I think I’m going to try it with milk but I have a feeling this is one of those “You have to try it for the experience” kind of teas, but not one to treasure near and dear and stock up on.

I haven’t been a big rooibos fan lately. Still, when I read that Lupicia had a limited time tea with chestnut and pumpkin, I had to give it a go. I have had their sweet potato black tea before and it has a similar taste to this. I can pick out a little chestnut, but I’m not really getting the pumpkin. The first few sips were really flavorful, but the sips after that left me searching out the intensity I had gotten before. At the end of each sip my mouth gets dry. Thank you rooibos.

This is a really interesting flavor combination, although I’m not crazy about this tea. I’d love to make a soup with these flavors. I’d also love to try this tea in a black base!

I’ve heard a lot about this, and since Lupicia was offering free shipping, I figured I’d give it a go. And I really don’t know what to think.
I really don’t like the smell, to me it smells like a burnt pumpkin…or burnt something fall-ish. The flavor definitely tastes like a pumpkin and squash. But that burning taste still kinda lingers. :S
I think if it weren’t for that burning taste I’d really dig this one, but since it just lingers through the entire cup, I don’t feel like such a fan.
I do however appreciate the natural sweetness of this tea. Always do appreciate not feeling like I have to add sugar or anything since I screw it up so easily! :P
But yeah, not a huge fan of this tea…Might just put it up for sale or something. I’m sure there are people who would enjoy it wayy more than me. xD
