From Lupicia

TSUGARU GREEN is Japanese green tea scented with luscious San-Tsugaru, a popular Japanese apple grown in Aomori Prefecture. The tea has characteristic crisp aroma and subtly sweet flavor.

Mixed feelings about this tea. The scent is not a true apple, but more along the lines of apple candy, like Jolly Ranchers. Really couldn’t detect the apple note with the second steeping. It tastes much better iced. I took the remaining tea to work and everyone immediately devoured the rest of it. Looking to try other teas from Lupicia but probably won’t repurchase this one.

Nice green apple aroma that really stays close to the cup. You have to hold th cup under your nose to fully enjoy it. Perfect for a cold rainy day like today. Plus it has a nice clean finish.

Looks like green tea. But is too sweet for green tea. Oh, apples. That makes sense. Tastes like an iced green tea with an apple sliced in. Perfect for a hot summer day. I like it warm and the apple came out just a bit sweeter than it is when it’s cold but something about cold tart apple and crisp green tea on a hot day sounds nice. We are also in the middle of a cold snap. I don’t mind above 30 but when it gets below and the air that I breathe hurts my face…

I agree that this one seems like it would be delicious cold brewed or iced. I’ll have to try that sometime!

Another winner from Lupicia!

This tea was so good I had it three times the day I opened the pouch. I was delicious no matter how I steeped it – hot, cold, or ambient. The smell of this tea is heavenly, like a fresh picked autumn apple from the orchard. The flavoring is spot on. It has a very natural apple taste with real depth and nuance, balanced perfectly by a clean green base, and with the sweetness of honeycrisp. When steeped hot, it’s reminiscent of warm, pure apple cider.

I love this one, too! The crisp apple goes so well with the sencha.

White Antlers

I avoid flavored teas as a rule, but Lupicia has elevated the way they do theirs to an art.

Mastress Alita

I love this one as well!

LuckyMe

@White Antlers same here. Lupicia is the only flavored tea that’s crave-worthy to me.

Samurai TTB #32

Light green apple flavor layered on a smooth green tea. This was easy to drink and I’m guessing would be lovely iced!

April Sipdown Alphabet Challenge: “T” Tea
I don’t love this one as much as others seem to, so I decided to make a small pot of it to drink while working on my Women’s Studies class analysis of the movie “American Violet”. The house has been really cold today so I’ve had to take quite a few breaks to make cups of tea to warm me up. I think I just am left wanting either a stronger apple flavor from this tea or more grassiness. In General, I prefer plain green teas but I do like flavored greens as well just this one, in particular, seems a little short on flavor.

Interestingly, I had no idea what tea this was when I drank it. This sachet is just labelled 8225 (blend number) and then has some Japanese writing that I can’t read. It came in a taster set that I bought in Los Vegas a few years back. I needed to finish off some of these so that I could have room for the new Lupicia blends.

Full disclosure: This teabag is slightly old (~2 years) and I drank this with milk.

I dislike green apples and any apple flavoured candy. Strangely, I enjoyed this blend. I actually thought it might be some sort of white grape blend because it had a very fruity but slightly floral flavour. In the aftertaste, there is a distinct “booze” kind of flavour that made me think of ice wine.

It did not taste like green apple candy at all (thankfully)! There is no sweetness. Although, now that I know what it is, I can make out the apple notes. I’m going to drink the rest of the teabags without looking up which tea it is. I think I enjoy them more without having preconceived notions about the flavour.

I need to pull this one out and have a cup, I remember liking it and your note is very encouraging! :)

LuckyMe

This is one of the teas I picked up in the Lupicia group order. I too am looking forward to trying it after seeing your note. From the sound of it, seems this will make a good cold brew.

This one smells pretty grassy, but let’s see. I brewed it at a low temperature for a short time and it turned out super nice. The flavor is light, mostly green apple. Unlike some green teas, it didn’t get bitter as it sat. Thanks to tea-sipper for sharing! The green apple flavor here is quite authentic and pleasant – I’m a fan!

I guess I’m one of the outliers concerning this tea. I like it. I don’t like red apples, I like granny smith apples and that’s the taste I’m getting. Bits of Tsugaru apples in here. It’s very fragrant with the smell of green apples. There is a tiny bit of the Jolly Rancher apple candy taste but the cherry Jolly Ranchers, watermelon and green apple ones were always my favorite so I guess that’s why I don’t mind. There is a little tartness but not much.

I had the opposite favorite Jolly Rancher flavors. I hated the day they got rid of: lemon, peach, strawberry, orange. :/

Kawaii433

aww tea-sipper >.<. I don’t think I’ve ever tried the peach, strawberry and orange. I do like the lemon. I forgot about that one.

Mastress Alita

Granny Smith is pretty much the only kind of apples I get. Love that slight tart bite, and they go so nicely with PB, too.

Cameron B.

I love this one, too! Clearly we are tea soulmates or something… XD

Lupicia, Lupicia, Lupicia… Maybe if I click my heels together, they won’t close the website. :(

This one is an apple green tea. The leaves are somewhat large and feathery, as opposed to the darker slender sort that Lupicia also sometimes uses. It has a light, smooth, and slightly sweet flavor with notes of dry grass and hay.

The apple flavor here is sharp and refreshing, like a granny smith apple. There’s a little bit of candy-like edge to it, but overall it tastes fairly authentic in my opinion. The crispness of the apple pairs really well with the grassy nature of the base tea. There’s just a tiny hint of dryness that mimics the skin of the apple nicely.

I’m not sure on this one… I may just get one more packet before the online store closes.

In other news, I finished unpacking and putting away my tea and teaware stash in my new house: https://www.instagram.com/p/BsMMemdlZcu/

Kawaii433

I have this on the way. I can’t wait to try it since I love Granny smith apples and I loved your picture!

Cameron B.

Thank you, dears!

@Kawaii – if you like sencha and granny smith apples, I think you’ll enjoy this one!

ashmanra

Online store closes? No more Lupicia orders?

lizwykys

Wow, so cool! Tea party at Cameron B.’s place!!! I love your array. :)

ashmanra, unfortunately, this appears to be the case. :( https://steepster.com/discuss/28561-lupicia-dot-com-closing-group-order-for-people-in-the-us-no-happy-bags (you need to scan down a bit on the first page to see where this came up)

Cameron B.

@ashmanra – It seems they are closing all of their stores in the US (including the website) except for the Hawaiian store. They’re also closing their French and Australian stores, and presumably those websites as well.

Cameron B.

@liz – Thank you, I would love that! Can’t get enough of dainty afternoon tea foods. ;)

Tabby

Made a panic-induced order with them yesterday. :(

tea-sipper

Sadly, this will probably be when Lupicia gets the most orders. :/

Cameron B.

@Tabby – I made one $60+ order already and now have another $100 cart that I haven’t submitted quite yet…
