From loveDarjeeling

This fine loose-leaf Darjeeling Tea comes from the famous Thurbo Estate in Darjeeling. It was organically grown high in the misty hills of the Lesser Himalayas of altitudes between 762 and 1890 metres. This is a remote area where rare orchids thrive alongside the tea plants.

This particular tea was picked in the autumn 2012. Teas picked at this time of the year are usually fuller in body and stronger tasting than those picked in the first-flush and tend to have a different character to the summer teas – usually more woody and earthy. The leaves brew to a bold, well rounded infusion with a delicate spiciness. Simply gorgeous on a chilly day…

Keeping in my usual style I will try to sum the taste of this tea with the three words that pop into my head as I drink it: light, fruity and dusky.

I leave this tea to steep for longer than I do for most Darjeelings and get a bit more out of it. The leaves are wiry and offer as much for the nose as the mouth. It’s not going to blow you away but worth drinking nevertheless. A perfect tea for hugging as you watch life pass by the window…
