From Lazy Cat Tea

Harvest – Spring 2019
Origin – Xingcun, Wuyishan (Banyan)

Huangmeigui 黄玫瑰 , literally meaning “yellow rose”, is a cultivar popular due to its powerful aromatic qualities.
This tea is processed as lightly oxidised and lightly baked to showcase the fragrance naturally coming from the tea leaves.
As soon as water will hit the tea, it will fill the cup with explosive floral notes and make a refreshingly light infusion, leaving a pleasant aroma on the cup.

Recommended for those who want to explore a new yancha cultivar or those looking for a light and fragrant spring tea.

Gongfu Sipdown (1415)!

The name of this varietal of yancha means something like “yellow rose fragrance” if I’m recalling correctly, and it’s almost eerie how much that seems to be true. I’m just really impressed with how thick and floral this tea brews up!! There’s a light mineral and almost “toasty” quality to the surface of the sip but underneath it’s this glorious bouquet of sweet, heady roses. There’s almost a lushness to it, though the astringency that accompanies this great floral flavour keeps that quality a little bit at bay!!

I switched up my floor space gongfu set up this weekend; really loving how much more summery it’s feeling – I think I picked a good tea to give it a test drive with!
