The strongest thing I taste is lemon. It’s nice and herbal and savory in just the right way. I prefer this one cold because then you get more intricacy from the flavor. I’m enjoying this lemon here – it’s much more herbal-leaning than tart. It’s a fun change. I didn’t realize this tea had mate in it – it blends very nicely.

Added notes: Sip down. Wow, it took me two full years to finish this? >.< I did buy the biggest can and it was huuuuuge. I guess I was once serious about detoxing. haha. Overall, it’s still my favorite detox for whatever reason lol. I’ve tasted others that taste better per se but sometimes I just like a pleasant boring, errr mild tea :P, for whatever reason and I reach for this the most if I need a quick detox. I love lemongrass so that’s probably another reason.

I can not stand their blue detox and can barely tolerate the one in the yellow can but this one tastes pleasant to me. No mint for one and the other two have a lot of mint. I put a few shakes of True Lemon powder in it or put a TeaVivre Lemon slice in it. I’ll probably order more.

Thinking of all my tea friends here and hoping that you and your loved ones remain safe during this trying time. I’m okay here <3.

Work – 5:00 PM

For some reason I have a mini tin of each of Kusmi’s three Detox blends. I’m not sure if I ordered them to try or got them during a promotion…?

This one is rather unusual. The green tea is quite smoky in an almost ashen way. That sounds way worse than it is! :P It also has a strong mineral note.

Anyway, there’s an herbaceous lemongrass flavor as well, and the taste of dry autumn leaves (sort of reminiscent of hojicha).

Definitely odd, but not unpleasant. I bet this would be an interesting one cold-brewed.

Hmmm. I thought I liked this over the BB Detox, but it’s the other way around. For sure. Perhaps I haven’t had a mate’ before. The smell made me immediately think I walked into a wood shop—-when I went to buy cedar planks for my garden. Or just like the candles that I love with cedar fragrance. Am I drinking wood?? The taste was smooth at least—-cedar and lemongrass….it was a very genuine wood smell/taste. Just not my thing. It will be difficult to finish my tin—I will have others try it when they come over….maybe find a taker. My only disappointment from Kusmi. This is for mate lovers only

Backlog…

I’m afraid it’s been a while since I had this, and I never got around to making any notes on this. I can say that I do remember it being quite good, to my surprise. I had one bag that was in a bag of other teas a friend gave me at Christmas.

I received this tea from MissB I have a horrid cold and decided perhaps this might make me feel slightly better. The silly thing is, I neglected to look this up before steeping it, because I was hurrying. I thought it was only a mate. I hadn’t the faintest clue that there was any green tea in this blend! So I brewed it as if it were a mate, and even let it steep a little longer than usual. Luckily for me it didn’t turn out half bad! I feared after finding out that it was partially green tea that it would be dreadful, due to brewing it at a much higher temp and longer time than is ideal for greens. Honestly though, that was not at all the case. It tastes only of strong lemongrass flavour with a hint of mate in back of the sip. Not bad at all. :)

Sipdown.

Wow, I don’t know why It was so hard to find this tea in the database. I searched ‘Detox,’ ‘Detox Kusmi,’ and looked through the Company’s page under Yerba Mate and green. I was this close to making an entry for this tea from scratch and am I so glad I did not!

My technological incompetence aside, I initially got this tea in sachet form as a sample from my last Kusmi order. I keep it along with a couple other teabags in my purse for emergencies; I.e. when I forget to bring my infuser basket and/or better loose leaf to work.

Disclaimer: I HATE it when teas are marketed for their health benefits. Just from a real tea drinker standpoint, that is not why I drink tea. I know that, especially where I am living, that may be the only way to sell tea to the masses. But nothing makes me grumpier than those shitty and shifty Instas that randomly follow me, selling “SUPER SLIMMING MEGA WIEGHT LOSS DETOX CLEANSE” teabags for outrageous prices. It’s basically death to the art that is tea.

But all those stigmas aside, I like the taste of this sample. It has two different kinds of mate, ‘green tea’ (What kind? I wanna knoowww!) lemongrass and lemon flavor. It’s a nice and refreshing cup. I can easily make this myself, and I probably will. This tea could be so great cold-brewed.

Flavors: Grass, Herbaceous, Lemon

Completely agree. I know there are those who drink tea for the health benefits and I don’t hold that against them – anything to keep good teas being sold! But folks who drink it only for the health benefits make me feel sad for them. They are missing out on another world of “why” when it comes to tea. :)

Yes!! I do drink functional herbal blends from time to time, as well as make my own. But they are for common ailments like a migraine or an upset stomach. I think those medicinal blends differ from the ‘weight loss’ teas I see a lot.

Bag: The muslin(cotton weave) tea bags are packaged in individual plastic foil backed bags. On the lable they have the brew time and temperature in Celsius.
Tea: Brewed at about 200F for 4 minutes the tea is a reddish maple color. Initial aroma was not something that I am used to in a tea, sweet and smoky tobacco. The flavor was much the same, a light refreshing smoky flavor somewhere between whiskey and tobacco that lingered for a about a half a minute. Astringency was mild.
Notes: This tea was from the Kusmi Tea Essentials pack of 24 teas, and each tea bag was about $0.94usd. The tea is called Detox which is quite off-putting to me because many times companies will forego flavor for supposed health benefits but I am happy to say that this tea is competitive in the flavor category. Ingredients on the label read Mate, Green Tea, and Lemon Grass. That being said I did not taste the green tea which is listed on the lable.

From reading the ingredients I didn’t think I was going to like this tea. When I took a sip I got lemon, pepper and smokiness! Very interesting! Almost like smoked paprika with a hint of lemon. This is a much more savory tea than I am used to, but I’m really liking it!

Tastes the way freshly mown grass smells. No thanks. Glad this was a free sample.
