From Kally Tea

During the latter half of the 20th century, Toffee and Cream became as ubiquitous on restaurant dessert menus as Irish pubs did on street-corners. And there is good reason for this. Toffee and Cream are delectable. It is also very simple to make and consists of only milk, eggs, sugar, and sometimes vanilla. As simple as it may be however, Toffee and Cream has a very complex medium rich flavor profile. (This makes it as natural as a flavoring for the mellow character of rooibos!) So in that great tradition, here is a rooibos offering to replicate this world wide taste sensation. One sip and you will agree that this brewed delight is as fun as the real thing. A healthy dessert! Who would have thought… No wait; Kally Tea would!

Ingredients: Rooibos, Caramel Pieces, Calendula Petals, Natural Flavors.

SIPDOWN! (274 though all my tea is currently spread out on my table so that i can re-organize and make sure nothing’s been missed in my cupboard and that will change with the teas i’m getting tomorrow from raritea and kittenna).

It feels good to be getting through some of my kally teas. They’re not “old” as nothing in my cupboard is more than 7 months old, tops. But they’ve been around longer than some teas so i’m trying to pay a bit more attention to them. That’ll be the last time i order that much tea in those quantities in one go lol though i have to say at least they were economical so i can’t complain too much :)

Enjoy this one quite a bit as far as rooibos goes. Flavour is a little on the weaker side for what i like but it’s still tasty :)

Fjellrev

That’s impressive that nothing is more than seven months old considering all the tea you have!

Sil

I’m guessing but that sounds about right for when I purchased things. I try to keep track as best as I can. Helps that I organize my cupboard every few weeks to pull out older things or stuff with small amounts left to drink them during the following week

Underwhelming. Similar to a few others I’ve had, but not very intense on the flavour. Compared to Sweet Temptation, this came in a distant second. Not bad, just a little weak! I’m a little spoiled :P
I definitely taste the toffee influence though. Next time I’ll try adding a bit more leaf.
Also, I tried adding milk. That helped make it creamier!

Sounds great!

Sipdown!
Thanks again Sil for this Rooibos blend, which I thought was pretty tasty, & my son Drew agrees.

Sil

Ok… my taste buds are influenced because I just brushed my teeth…. but I kind of like this one. Less sweet and more flavourful than other rooibos’ with similar flavourings. I’m getting a bit of fruitiness as well, but it’s really tough to tell what my minty toothpaste is contributing (although I have to say, this combo isn’t too bad, especially compared to how awful nearly everything else tastes post-tooth brushing!)

I just wanted a few non-caffeinated things before bed, so brewed up some options…. and promptly went for a shower and brushed my teeth. Not the cleverest one, sometimes…

Giving this a tentative rating for now; it may increase when I try this again properly. I certainly feel like I’ll be wanting this again at some point! (Side note: I used 2 tsp of tea for 8-10 oz. I have been overleafing rooibos’ lately as they taste better that way IMO.)

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml of water

Bland milky flavour. Toffee sweetness. Punchy rooibos flavour present. Strong toffee flavour/aroma in aftertaste. Nutty note. Overall, very weak in flavour.

Thank you to Indigobloom and Sil for sharing this with me!

This came as a free sample with my order. I wasn’t expecting samples considering they have a promo right now for a free 2oz of mystery tea with every 2oz purchase. I ended up ordering 10oz of tea and received 10oz + 2 samples + tea mints for free. Such a great deal!

Anyway…

I’ve been trying to drink more rooibos lately so I’ve been ordering from companies that carry unique flavors just so I have something a little bit different to try. Honestly, I’m not sure I would have ordered this one on my own, I just don’t care for toffee all that much. The scent of the dry leaf smelled really yummy when I opened up the sample package.

There were 2 teaspoons in the sample and I used them both with 16oz of water. I wish I had used less water though, I thought the flavor was a little on the weak side. The brewing instructions do state 1-1.5 teaspoons per 8oz, so next time I would definately go with the upper end. I’ll have to keep this in mind for the other rooibos blends I ordered.

Flavor-wise I think this tasted more like vanilla than toffee and it actually reminds me of a few other vanilla rooibos blends I’ve had recently. Not likely to be a reorder for me, but still great for a little variety.
