This is one that I took from the SSTTB. Thanks everyone!!!

Drinking it at work today, and I was surprised at how grapey this was – is that the muscatel thing people talk about? Anyway, whatever it is, this is sweet and fruity, but it’s deep and rich enough to be satisfying in the morning.
I’m more of a purest, I’m not huge into the black tea blends, but this a good one. I could drink this again.

SarsyPie

Sounds yum! I love grapey flavors in tea :)

Sil

you just haven’t had the RIGHT black tea blends :)

MzPriss

I like Hugo, but I haven’t tried this. I just finished a tin of Full-Steam, so maybe an order….

Dexter

So what’s the RIGHT black tea blend? I would say that A&D Double Knit is my favorite.

Sil

mmmm double knit. so good…. i’m still working on my favourite black tea blend… i’ll keep you posted :)

TeaLady441

I LOVE this tea. I had a sample of it and was very fortunate to get a tin from Hugo as they no longer stock it. :P I think they replaced it with Hill Station (another good blend, but quite different!)

looseTman

OMG & Hill Station were discontinued. Full-Steam is now their only unflavored black tea. http://www.hugotea.com/pages/shop

looseTman

Full-Steam: 1.76 ounces for $9.89 = $5.62/oz. × 16 = $89.92/lb.

boychik

I love full steam. Never had a morning journey. I remember that Terri has them both. I think she likes Full Steam more.

looseTman

You’re right, Terri enjoyed Full Steam much more than OMJ.

TeaLady441

Oh – I must have mixed it up and was thinking of Full Steam!

MzPriss

I love Full Steam a LOT

It’s been a long time since I’ve written any notes here, mostly because I’ve been on a tea buying hiatus since May and have also been interning/shadowing at my local hospital, which has been very exciting. Anyway, I hope all you wonderful Steepsterites are doing well!

I had a cup of Morning’s Journey with breakfast today, and wow, I’d forgotten how delicious it is! It’s so malty and smooth, and gently pokes my brain into waking up. I need to drink it more often.

Terri HarpLady

Oh, I miss this one. I wish I would have bought some more awhile back, because the last couple times I visited the website it was still down. I need to get someone in Kansas City to pick some up for me.

Ag

I just checked their Facebook fan page, and it looks like they’re replacing this with a similar blend called Full-Steam. They have pictures of their new tins, too, which look very nice. Hopefully their web store will come back up in the near future!

Terri HarpLady

Yeah, I also checked out the FB page & noticed that Morning’s Journey wasn’t on there. Bummer. Hopefully Full Steam will be as good, but I liked the name too.

SSTTB

I don’t think this one is for me at all. It is smooth but as I conclude the sip, a sort of dryness sets in that I am just not loving. Plus, tastewise this is less chocolate and caramel and malt and more wood, if that makes any sense. Oh well, can’t win them all.

TeaLady441

Awww. I’m happy you tried it anyway! You’re always welcome to try it later if you get curious.
Also, I wonder if it’s the darjeeling that made it dry for you? I think there is some darjeeling in that blend.

VariaTEA

Maybe. I will try some of the other Hugo teas in the box and see if I have more success with those
