From Hooker Tea

If you like our Chocomate then you will love the Caramel Mate. A little sweeter than the other, but with plenty of roasted chicory to balance the brew. This blended produces a dark brown cup with a sweet caramel taste. Definately try iced with cream and sugar, then kiss your iced coffee bye.

Water: 212°F / Leaves: 1 tablespoon per 8 ounces / Infusion Time: 5–7 minutes ( the longer the better)
Ingredients: mate roasted, rooibos, caramel bits (sugar, condensed milk, glucose syrup, milk powder), roasted chicory root, flavor, marigold blossoms

Caramel Mate was one of my first loose teas. It really was the bridge from “Tea Dust” in a bag to the real deal. So I might be a bit biased with this lovely tea.

First of all, the tea came out to a lovely liquor brown. It smells of roasted leaves ( as it should be, it IS a roasted Mate) and a hint of sweetness from the caramel. It’s a nice combination and neither scent overpowers the other.

Unfortunately, I don’t taste the caramel. All I can pick up is the roasted Mate. It’s a pleasant and mild in taste and surprisingly it tastes better without the Carmel.

I give this tea a 4.5/5 because though it’s fantastic, the name lie’s about it’s true flavor.
