From Harney & Sons

An American homage to the classic Breakfast Tea, our New England Breakfast begins with a base of strong, bright-tasting black tea. Next, we infuse it with rich maple, creating a distinctly New England brew that’s creamy and warm on the palate but still full of spirit. Enjoy hot as a classic morning-time tea, or try iced as a refreshing dessert accompaniment.

Ingredients:
Black tea, maple flavor, safflower petals. Contains natural flavors.

Literally my hero for this slow Monday morning. I can’t believe it’s gonna be back in the 70’s and 80’s this week :(

ashmanra

Same temps here, but Sunday night is going to be in the upper 40’s if they don’t snatch that away from us at the last minute!

Rosehips

Its going to be super warm where I am, too. I feel your pain.

I’m hoping it’ll be back to cooler temps next week, this doesn’t feel like October.

Tiffany’s tasting Note #170
An Ode to Tea, N is for New England Breakfast by Harney & Sons (gifted by Tiana @its.a.tea.adventure on IG)

Tuesday 4/27 —This is a special tasting note because this is my first one that is not for a sip down. I was going to let my steepster account only be for sip downs but I’m really enjoying my “alphabet challenge” (aka an ode to tea/#2021steepstersipdown April challenge thanks to Mastress Alita). Brewed this one hot & plain two sachets for 5+ minutes. I am pleasantly surprised about this considering I’m not a black tea fan (green & oolong & tisanes are my jam!) but it really is sold with the sweet flavor (assuming the maple flavoring). — Tiana was so kind to gift me 18 sachets which will be 9 “cups” (since 16-20 oz is a cuppa of tea for me), putting them in my locker and I will enjoy these as an easy “morning shift at work brew”.

Sipdown! (21 | 225)

Swap tea! This one was on my wishlist to try from Harney, so I’m thankful to be able to try a bit from a swap.

Honestly, it’s not my favorite. I feel like with each cup I like it less, which is never a good thing ha ha. The maple tastes quite artificial to me, and leaves a weird aftertaste in my mouth. The base tea is fine, with some woody and earthy notes. A bit thin perhaps?

I even tried it with milk (unusual for me) as it’s a breakfast blend, but I found it didn’t really help with the artificial taste. So not for me, unfortunately! So grateful to tea friends and swaps so I can try things in small quantities. :)

Another drink of this one. Still not strong in the maple department but I added a splash of milk generously, left out the sugar this time, and drank a cup late at night while munching on cheese and Rita crackers. Nice blend. Soothing although I probably don’t need more caffeine this late at night. I like the milk in it better, which I usually don’t add to tea. It helps this one feel fuller.

It’s a nice enough tea, but if you’re looking for something with a lot of maple flavor, I’d pass. The maple is very subtle, and you’re probably not going to really notice it unless you add sugar to your tea.

Also I think it tastes a little like raisins for some reason. I don’t know. Something about it’s just reminding me of Sun-Maid raisins. Weird.

The moment the air had even a hint of crispness, I ordered a lot of tea for Harney and Sons, and am now smugly sitting on a small mountain of teas.
This is a new flavor for them, and I tossed it into the cart excitedly. This tea was voted on to determine who would win, and I really liked the tea that won last year (Victorian London Fog), so I had high hopes for this one.
I like breakfast blends, and one with a touch of maple sounds brilliant.
However….. I cant say I taste any of the maple. Its a decent breakfast blend, but I am lacking that punch of earthy sweetness that I was expecting.
Hmm. Well, I’ll keep trying and see what happens.

I find that maple teas almost never have enough maple! It’s so sad!

Maple teas, properly done, are delicious. Hope you find your sweet spot.

I like the Pancake Breakfast tea from 52Teas. I recall the maple was sweet but not cloying.
