From Harney & Sons

Deliciously silky and full of complex flavors, our Pomegranate Oolong tea blends large Ti Quan Yin leaves—also known as Iron Goddess of Mercy—with the tangy, sparkling flavor of pomegranate. The result is a luscious and fruit-forward brew with a toasty aroma and ample flavors of bright pomegranate. Brew hot to enjoy its smooth, silky texture and sweet aroma at its finest.

Ingredients: Oolong tea, pomegranate flavor. Contains natural flavors.

I tried this one as a loose leaf tea sample. In the package, it smells extremely tart. Once brewed, it’s less, so, but still retains enough of the natural pomegranate tartness to stay true to the fruit. It’s not a sweet tea, but I imagine if sugar were added that this would probably taste like Kool Aid. It’s really good. I like sweet teas, but I think this is such an unusual pairing with the oolong that it works well. I enjoyed it a lot. 190/3min.

As a late christmas present, my sister bought me a tea mug. Not so surprising, but it was quite adorable and I was dying to drink some tea with it, but since my Teavana Tea maker is being intensely washed I couldn’t make any loose teas. :( But rummaging through my moms tea I found this! Not sure how old it is, definitely more than a year or so… but here goes!

A typical oolong taste, but the pomegranate adds such a subtle sweetness to it it’s great. Even without using sugar this time around, I’m enjoying it a lot. Though, I think a little sugar would be perfect with it. I think the tea might have lost some of it’s flavor, since it feels a little bland this time around. I’m sure the flavor would be more potent if it were fresher tea. I remember this tea tasting much better when I drank it a while back.

But it only helps to remind me that I am in dire need of visiting the Harney store. Maybe on my way back to school i’ll stop by and grab some of this tea for later ;)

It was interesting trying this after the Oolong tastings I did today. This one has a Tie Kuan Yin base, and combined with an incredibly light tough of pomegranate, its still boring. The oolong still leaves a lingering taste, but the tea itself isn’t anything to write home about. Its “nice” but not as exciting as it originally sounded to me.

I like it, but there are other fruit teas I’ve enjoyed more. I feel like the pomegranate overpowers the oolong just a bit. Harney & Sons remains my favorite tea blender, but I wouldn’t consider this to be among their best.
