From Harney & Sons

Cherry Blossom is an irresistible blend of green teas and vibrantly fragrant cherry flavors. Handpicked full-leaf Chinese green tea is lightly scented with mildly sweet cherry notes, brewing a light-bodied green cup. A whirlwind of fantastical fruit flavor, Cherry Blossom is a spring awakening to the senses.

Okay, so. I love cherries, a lot, and I’ve been wanting to try this tea forever. But there are no samples, and every time I place an order, I talk myself out of it because what if I hate it, right? Then I’m stuck with 19 sachets and I hate wasting tea, so I would have to drink it anyway if I couldn’t find someone who wanted it.

Until I made my last order, and I was running way low on work tea (i.e., tea in sachets or bags from anywhere) and went for it.

I thought for sure I had made a mistake when I opened the tin and got a face full of cherry cough syrup scent, so I decided to try one before I even bothered taking it to work.

I am so glad I did. It isn’t the very best tea I’ve had, but it’s still pretty darned good. The green tea is solid and very smooth, and there are definitely cherry notes. What I’m getting is CHERRY, mmm green tea, oh there’s the cherry again! It’s pretty nice, it doesn’t taste artificial (which was my worry when I smelled it). It’s not perfect, but for the price I’d definitely buy it again.

And it’s definitely tasty with the last of the fresh cherries I got over the weekend!

I don’t know if it will happen for you, but the first time I had this I had a jaded, untrained palate. I didn’t taste ANY cherry! Then I drank it, and drank it, and it grew on me and became a favorite. Two friends of mine tried it at my house and said it was their favorite green ever.

I was really expecting to get some light cherry flavours with this tea, but again, H&S didn’t deliver. I got more of the green tea flavor with little to no cherry blossom taste. I got a few floral notes on some sips, but I didn’t know if it was that or the green tea (which was very buttery). Nothing terribly special. I might try another brew at a later date.

See my previous tasting note for a full review.

Today I decided to experiment with resteeping, which is something I’ve never done with bagged tea. The results were quite pleasant. I got three pretty good steeps out of it. The second steep was just as flavorful as the first, but the third was a little too weak and lacked the cherry blossom flavor.

Steeping times:
1st – 90s
2nd – 2min
3rd – 3min

Again my co-worker spoiled us with bringing in this tea! The smell is sweet like fresh cherries but it also kind of reminded me of those strawberry sour straws, which is ok in my book. This teas flavor is very good and it matched the smell perfectly! The tea holds its sweetness until the very last drop and it makes you want another cup asap.

This is a very well blended tea. The cherry isn’t too over-powering and I find that it compliments the green tea very delicately. Perfect for when the sun is shining bright and you want a little bit a fruitiness in your cuppa.

Ah, okay, that’s much better. There’s still an almost chalky texture, but it seems more deliberate this way. I’m not thrilled with this, but it’s a reasonable cup of tea.

Tea #8 from Another TTB

The tea almost promises a good flavor at the start of the sip, but it finishes kind of blah. The flavor is sweet, but I wouldn’t describe it as cherry. Maybe it’s trying too hard not to be cough syrup as is the bane of most cherry teas. Also, it leaves a funky aftertaste.

This one is Day 3 of my Steepster advent calendar from Kelmishka. Honestly, I kept putting off trying it because I’m not a big fan of cherries, but I found this surprisingly pleasant! It smells very soothing, slightly floral and cherry candy sweet but not overly so. The base here is a really good choice – it’s strong enough to not get drowned out completely by the flavoring but light and delicate enough to complement the cherry and floral elements. I wouldn’t have tried this on my own, and I’m glad that I got to!

Flavors: Candy, Cherry, Floral

Glad it was better than expected — it’s always nice to be surprised!

Surprised I haven’t reviewed this one yet! This is a blend that I will always think of fondly. I went through chemo in spring 2021 and had to isolate from everyone except my partner—I couldn’t risk catching covid while my immune system was decimated. But one warm early spring day, my friend/neighbor invited us over for a safe, socially distant, outdoor cherry blossom party. She served this tea brewed up in her signature yellow Russel Wright teapot and fed us an assortment of snacks that even my chemo-addled taste buds enjoyed. After weeks of feeling like a husk of myself, it was so nice to feel the sun on my face and to chat with friends like a normal person. Plus, the tea tasted good—which did not always happen with hot beverages during chemo! My friend bought me a tin of it afterward, which was very sweet. Now whenever I enjoy it, it takes me back to one of the few bright spots during treatment.

…so, yes, I’m biased toward this tea. But I think it’s genuinely tasty! The cherry is super subtle and not at all medicinal, with the lightest floral note. There’s almost a blueberry element there too, layered on top of the smooth, mild green tea base. It’s not terribly sophisticated, but it’s inoffensive and reliably tasty and always makes me happy.

Flavors: Blueberry, Cherry, Smooth
