From Harney & Sons

From the website:
Notes of Georgia peaches and hand-picked full leaf Chinese black tea combined together for a refreshing tea with sweet earthy tones.

(This must be a replacement for the Organic Version they used to sell. Tins have 6 pouches that will make 2 qts of tea each. There is also a 15 pouch bag that they offer.)

Thank you Lala for this sample. I felt majorly dehydrated this morning and thought I would have a large glass of iced tea. I brewed this one over night with high hopes.

I’ve been drinking it all morning and cannot get enough of the delicious ice cold peach flavour. It’s not very strong but is so fresh and clean thanks to the cold steep that the hint it leaves behind is amazing. It also offers a little sweetness and a wonderful fruity after taste. One of the nicest ice teas I have had the pleasure of steeping. :)

Shame I only had one large bag of this but certainly something I would buy if I ever got the chance to.

Happy you liked it. I have most of the flavours of Harney’s iced tea bags and they have all been good. They resteep well.

KittyLovesTea

Wow this tea really does re steep very well. With such a large bag I thought I might as well get more from it and the re steep is just as good as the original. :) Looks like I woke up with a treat and now I shall end my day with one too.

lala – 52 teas or harney for the premade iced tea bags? in your opinion?

Lala

I like both, but I think Harneys are better. The Harneys are more of a classic flavoured iced tea and seem to be larger. Harney’s also seem to be cheaper (15 pouches for $18 vs 52 teas $2.99 per pouch).

Sil

Thanks! I was curious since I haven’t yet tried harney and only recently tried 52 teas

Iced tea of the day….

Another sample from Russel at the Millerton Shop. (Thank you!) I was really glad to get to try this, because I have gifted it to friends and not even had a chance to try it for myself. I am a big fan of their Midsummer’s Peach decaf blend in loose leaf. MSP was the tea that introduced me to the Millerton Shop since I was not prepared to buy an entire pound of it, and that is how it is offered online in loose leaf other than a sample. Midsummer’s Peach makes a great iced tea, but usually, I want the caffeine during the day. Enter, the Peach Iced Tea in 2 qt. pouches.

I must say, the convenience of the pouches is wonderful. It makes the perfect gift for those who don’t have the patience or tea obsession to mess with leaves. I like it, too, actually. I made the iced tea in a pyrex measuring cup right along side my first morning cuppa. Then I added the super-strength brew to my favorite pitcher full of ice plus a little more water to bring it up to about 2 qts. Notes of fresh peach and oh so smooth and refreshing. It definitely holds a place in my top favorite iced teas, and readily nudged out Midsummer’s. I will have to purchase some….for me and more for gifts. Did you see how cute the tin is?

I’ve had two terrible experiences with making iced tea lately — they just haven’t been what I’ve wanted and so I thought that a “classic” might change things around. Peach iced tea is the gold standard of iced tea for me, for some strange reason. I feel like it’s a perfect & solid summery choice! I hadn’t ever tried these iced tea sachets from Harney & Sons before so I was excited to give them a try. The tea certainly smelled peachy, but when I sipped, I was surprised that the flavor was so light. The black tea is not overwhelming or bitter, but the peach is really hidden. I wish that I had been able to bring out more of that peachy flavor. To be honest, I wouldn’t know that this was a peach tea if I hadn’t seen the tin. It’s certainly drinkable and refreshing, I just don’t think this is fruity enough for me.

Hmm I prefer my peach teas to be strongly peach tasting, so might avoid this one. The best peach tasting tea I’ve had is Perfect Peach by Bigelow, believe it or not. It also makes a passable iced tea. It’s got a black tea base too, but decaf.

QueenOfTarts

I will definitely try to find that tea! Thanks for the recommendation!

I think you may love Nosy Bey from Dammann Frères, this is my favourite peach tea from far and Mélange de Galice (Theodor) is really awesome as well.

I had to make an order from Harney and Sons because this tea was on sale. I had wanted to try it for a while. I like to make iced tea and cold brewed teas but I have never actually bought tea specifically designed to make iced tea before.

The tea comes in huge tea bags. There is a gentle smell of sweet fuzzy peach over the black tea.

I brewed this as recommended on the Harney website, 1 pouch of tea in 2 cups of boiling water for 15 minutes, remove tea bag and squeeze out liquid, add 6 cups of cold water. I also added a few tablespoons of sugar to sweeten it. I made it last night and then put it in the fridge for today.

It tasted like a medium black tea base with gentle notes of peach. It feels like a thick liquid, with a vegetal aftertaste. It is refreshing and cooling. This makes a delicious iced tea. Right now the weather where I am can be described as winter storm, despite being the middle of April. I had planned to keep this tea and use it through the summer. But I might have to make a few pitchers of tea just to dream of the summer that will hopefully come.

A friend brought this along to the cabin over the weekend to share. I was not impressed! Drinkable but nothing special at all.

Thought I’d give this one another chance after my previous review. This is my first time cold brewing an iced tea so I knew it there would be some experimentation going on. I cold steeped overnight in pitcher and dove right in! I am pleasantly surprised that I didn’t get that same strong black base in the first sip. As a trade off the tea is very sweet on it’s own without any sugar, but a weak. Now I can truly say that I can drink this iced tea and taste the peachy goodness _ Bumped up my rating since last time!
