Laos boarders Yiwu and although tea from this region strictly cannot be called Puerh it still comes from the same cultivars and similar terroir. You may have tasted Laos material before, it is sometimes blended into Yiwu area cakes. The dry leaves are very pungent with a fruity aroma. The liquor is medium viscosity and very sweet and fruity with some bitterness. A satisfying fruity after taste that hangs on the palette. Land owners in Loas where the tea resides are happy for Yiwu farmers to trek the 4 hours themselves through the bush to reach the trees. The trees of this area are at least 100 years old and truly wild Gushu. Picking these areas means camping out in the Loas jungle over night! Only 10kg of material was gathered from this trip. We only managed to secure 3kg.
