Great Horse Tea’s Jin Que She is a top grade Wuyi rock tea harvested in fall 2014 from Wuyi mountain region, Fujian province, China. The tea has settled for three months to remove any remaining tannins and has very rich and complex flavors. This is a partially roasted rock tea with a slightly longer roast than it’s cousin tea, Bai Ji Guan. And like Bai Ji Guan, it is a rare tea that is produced in smaller quantities. Luckily we have a generous supplier and have enough in stock to age for years to come. One tablespoon will steep approximately 24 oz of tea.
Jin Que She is one of the more minerally tasting rock teas that Great Horse Teas carries but also has a wonderful earthy sweetness. It has a slight caramel/molasses nuance and like Bai Ji Guan, it has sweet and sour properties that last through multiple steepings.The tea has a viscous mouth-feel and is very light on the palate.
The name Jin Que She (Golden Sparrows Tongue) is distinguished from the green tea Que She (Bird Tongue) an is specific to the Wuyi Region, Fujian, China. Jin Que She refers to the slivers of partially roasted whitish-yellow leaves that are seen in the appearance of the over all tea. When look at in the right way the tea can appear as an entire bird drinking from a mountain pool. This tea has a long history in Wuyi and is cherished by many locals.
