From Golden Moon Tea

There’s vanilla, and then there is vanilla. Sometimes “vanilla” is poured out of a small, dark bottle into your favorite boxed cake mix. That stuff is like that “iPod” you bought in Chinatown. Sure it may work, but it really isn’t the same. Our vanilla is straight from the vanilla bean. Not just any bean, but the world famous bourbon vanilla bean found in Madagascar. We chop up the beans, blend them with a pure, organic Indian tea base and let it age for over a month. Why? Because Madagascar Vanilla ends up having a fully infused, rich flavor with no weird chemical aftertaste. Sure it is a lot of trouble for us to make this tea, but it’s well worth it.

Madagascar Vanilla mixes rich black tea with slices of real vanilla bean to produce a deep flavor that includes notes of dark rum, sweet earth, and tropical flowers. Both smooth and exotic, this tea is great served with a touch of whole milk and buttered toast for a nice morning treat.

I just got New Moon’s big sampler, and this is the second I’ve tried from it. But… A tea with real vanilla bean should not be bland . It does not take a great deal of vanilla to infuse something with a lot of flavor — I have no idea why this tea is so dissatisfying. It’s not terrible. I’m new to the tasting notes, so I may not give the most helpful description ever, but I find the tea very flat. I’ll have to brew with more tea leaves next time to have any flavor at all, I think. I’ve got black loose leaf tea in my pantry over two years old that tastes stronger than this.

This is April Fool’s Day. This tea April Fooled me :( The dry tea smells great like vanilla beans.
The flavor is vanilla and
it has a briny orange flavor to the liquor that is different. I don’t know what tea this is made with :(
This is what Steepster is for so you can know about a tea before purchasing. This is tea like you get in the grocery store, ok but not high end and you don’t know what you are drinking. :(

This is one of the better vanilla teas I’ve had. Much more vanilla bean-y, which is what I prefer. The black base is smooth too. Definitely a winner. :)

Sample. Very mild. Smells pretty sweet and vanilla-y, but doesn’t taste like vanilla.

This smelled like creamy vanilla, but the scent did not carry over to the tea. No creamy vanilla flavor, just a tea with a bit of harshness. 2nd steep was a bit smoother, but never did taste vanilla. Not destined to be a favorite—

Smells cloyingly sweet, candy-like caramel vanilla. Tastes much milder – almost neutral with a hint of a vegetal spinachy taste. The vanilla is most prominent in the finish. Mild astringency. Brews up pale amber.

My Golden Moon sampler came! Yaaaay! :D I’m drinking this one this morning, because I need some caffeine. :P

This smelled so good when I opened the bag! Unfortunately, I’m a bit disappointed by the tea itself, as I like the aftertaste more than the tea. Based on the scent, I was anticipating a much richer taste, but I do enjoy the sweet vanilla aftertaste.
