Once I opened the bag of this I could smell Caramel and Chocolate…more Caramel than Chocolate but the aroma was terrifically-awesome!

Once infused I could smell the chocolate more and the caramel a little less.

This is very sweet and I can taste both the caramel and the chocolate. This is a medium-flavored honeybush and very pleasing and very much a comfort tisane! YUM!

Tisane of the evening….. (SRP #33)

I love a good desserty honeybush blend. This one has notes of chocolate (although, like LiberTEAS, I do wish it was a little more prevalent), caramel, and rose. It does pay off to look at the steeping recommendations on this one…they recommend using 1 1/2 tsp per 8 oz of water and I might even use a little more than that. When it is done steeping and very hot, the flavors are not as noticeable as when the brew cools a little. And it does remind me of chocolate cake… I might add a little raw cacao powder next time. Who says it can’t be somewhere between a tisane and cocoa? A very enjoyable evening treat, especially for those who want to have their cake without too many calories.

Mug method with 3 tsp Chocolate Cake Honeybush, 8 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Smells wonderful, reminds me of the chocolate cake liqueur my girlfriends were on about a couple years back. You’d think the rose element might be kind of weird, but it makes it seem like a fancier chocolate cake flavor, a more feminine one. It’s not strong, just a backdrop that gives the thing some soft complexity in a welcome way. Such a nice guilty pleasure. I could definitely turn this into a nighttime staple when I have a sweet tooth—it is quite a sweet tisane, yum! Yeah, I think I’m marking this in the “could definitely reorder” category.

BTW, I love that Fusion Teas puts the individually tailored steeping directions for their teas right on the bags, even for samples.

So far so good with Fusion Teas, a company I’d not tried until Black Friday sales but had been curious about for a while. I’ve been impressed and pleased with how carefully and flavorfully blended their stuff is.

a velvet undertone…. almost a stick that makes the chocolate stay in place…. or am i way off?

ifjuly

no, that’s right! it’s like it gives it more a feeling, yes, plush and velvety, more than anything else, along with a layer of…sophistication. i know that sounds haughty/silly, but i’m not sure how else to put it, ha. you’re good with words!

i can’t wait to log the beautiful teas you sent me, BTW. there’s an ice storm tonight here and it was a snow day so it’s been a little off the wall having my husband home and us both iced in allllll day, pot after pot of tea while we watch holiday movies. i’m waiting for some alone time so i can really concentrate on the tea! (:

I usually am kinda iffy when it comes to Chocolate Flavored Teas.
Sometimes, they just feel like they are trying too hard to be chocolate-y.
This one I very much like.
It tastes a bit more Mocha-like to me.
A very lovely tea that leaves you feeling like you just had a decadent dessert.

Another from TSTTB! #7, maybe? I’ve already lost count!

I thought this tasted like very rich and delicious caramel. Complex (yes, this honeybush dessert tea has nuances! A creamy-ness. A cake-ness. A burnt sugar-ness). It could have been because this was the very last scoop in the bag and the chocolate was gone, or perhaps it’s just the way I taste these flavors, but chocolate never entered my mind when drinking this tisane. I’m intrigued enough to pop this into my order to find out if there may be more chocolate in a full pouch, I’ll tell you that! Even if there isn’t, this one is superior to the caramel rooibos I have in my cupboard, and I’ll be extremely happy with it if it tastes just as it did last night.

revisiting this one last time (using the last of the leaf that I have of this blend) so that I can finalize the review that I started on it a few days ago.

This is yummy. The aroma is awesome. If you love the smell of brownies or chocolate cake as they’re baking – that’s what this brewed tea smells like. I wish that the flavor had as much of a chocolate impact as the aroma does. As it is, it is yummy, but I would love more chocolate flavor. (But then, I always do, don’t I?) The caramel and the rose are lovely.

Another amazing tea from Fusion Tea Room. Each one that I have tried has unique flavors, but none fall from the high standards that I am coming to learn characterize all of Fusion’s teas. This tea, when hot, is really chocolate cake. But not just. There is the sweet honeybush base that lends it’s distinctive sweetness. Put all together, it’s a wonderful cup! When cold, it’s more honeybush than chocolate, but that’s good too, because the honeybush is delicious in itself.

Mmmmm, thank you Fusion Teas Opened this bag up, was hit with the actual, real life smell of chocolate cake. Yum. The smell of the dry leaves was strong and wafted all around my desk. The tea itself was very mobile as it brewed, little flecks floating around everywhere in my ingenuiTEA. Tastes really lovely, but the chocolate seemed to be more muted while the honeybush grew stronger as it brewed. Still, super excellent tea.

My last sample that I haven’t logged from Fusion Tea Room!

So this tea…

Well…hmm…see…I……it was good. But…….it……….sigh It wasn’t what I was expecting, to be completely honest. But let me just review it and then explain.

Smell: Dry, in the bag. CARAMEL CARAMEL OH MY GOODNESS IT SMELLED CAKEY AND YUMMY! Though I did not taste chocolate at all. I mean, I guess maybe it was there….somewhere. Steeping it smelled WAY caramel-y! Yummy.

Taste: On the site it said this tea could be drank straight. I’m sorry, but THAT IS NOT TRUE! For me, at least. When I drank it, it wasn’t sweet and I couldn’t taste anything yummy. (Maybe I steeped it wrong, I don’t know, but at 8 mins and boiling, and following all instructions, twice, I don’t think so.) So I put in one packet of raw cane sugar, and that gave it a bit of a slight caramel taste. Slight. One other packet and it was SUPER sweet and SUPER caramel tasting. That was all though. It had a creamy caramel taste, a rich mouthfeel (haven’t been stretching my tea vocab, I need a start) and a pretty caramel color. Some slight cream may have made it better, maybe even more steep time. All in all, the tea wasn’t bad, I just couldn’t taste lots of yummy stuff. Sorry FTR, this one I don’t think is for me! (But I enjoy it enough to finish it, and keep trying to see if maybe it was something I did…I’m just not convinced this tea isn’t a slice of heaven, all of the other reviews were SO GOOD. So yeah, another go.)

Yeah instructions are not always best – you will find as you have here you have to play around to find what suits you. While I PREFER a tea I don’t have to add stuff to in order to make it amazing you will find with many and in my opinion especially the dessert type teas – you do. I always add cream and or sugar to my teas that should be sweet but are lacking. I mean chocolate cake tea SHOULD in my view be sweet! Don’t feel bad about adding things to it if that is what it takes but yeah if tea does not arrive and taste the way I feel it should without adding a lot of goop to it I usually won’t reorder.

Violet

I like it enough to reorder, but I have to definitely play around with it.

This tea smells kinda cakey. I like honeybush, but the chocolate flavour of this one doesn’t really work for me.
